is this normal for a 2 year old boy?

My nephew is 2, going to be 3 in 4 months. He cant say the alphabet, BUT, you can point to ANY letter in the alphabet and he will be able to say a word for it. A-Ant, B-Ball... but for X he says FoX. Is that normal, or average? And you can show him any animal and he can name it. Even a gazelle. He can even distinguish the difference between sheeps, rams, and goats. He says ostrich, octopus, all sorts of thing i never expected from someone that age. he has been doing this for at least 6 months. Just wondering if its average or?? Thank you.

That is completely normal. I am a daycare owner with my friend, but we set up the daycare like a little classroom. One boy did that, and his mother yelled at us for supposedly teaching him that. We decided to let her come and watch what we did to make them learn the alphabet. He did the same thing: X is for FoX. Me and my friend fixed it right away. We pulled out pictures of things that start with X (ex: x is for xylophone, x is for x-ray, etc.) It's just common sounding out the words. They think that the last letter in fox is what it should be for X. X is a very complicated letter for young children to learn. It is normal. Just print picturesof a xylophone and an x-ray. Don't worry, he will learn eventually.

i would say he is a little above average he probably cant say the alphabet because he was taught it by using animals names no problem there
