Christians, I shared scripture with Jehovah Witness's last week. Why didn't they come back for round 2?

I shared John 3:16 as my belief when they asked.

Update:

They said "God has a name & we are supposed to tell everyone His name, Its Jehovah. Do you believe in Jehovah?

I said: I am a born again Christian, saved by grace because John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Do you have eternal life?

Then they said they would be willing to come back next Tuesday & discuss it with me but ... all I here outside are birds, not Jehovah Witness's.

I had their Bible in my hands and tried to find a text, but it wasn't there. I finally got my own to show them the text. I said let's pray, and went to hold their hands for prayer, and one man fled to his car, and jumped in. The other man stood there in my driveway like a deer caught in the headlights of a car. They refused to tell me why they couldn't pray with me. It was the weirdest thing I'd ever seen. Those grown men were that terrified to pray with someone they had come to witness to. As they were leaving I was calling out, "why won't you pray with me?" They have never returned. I wonder if I am being shunned for being a Christian?

in case you seem on the early Christian congregation, beforehand the apostles died off and the 'apostasy' set in, you will agree that Jehovah's Witness are accomplishing themselves interior an analogous way. The historic previous of genuine worship is a record of modern religious enlightenment, as considered in accordance to Prov. 4:18; Dan. 12:4, 9, 10; Acts 15:17-9 AND by ability of all ability ensure and use MANY copies of the Scriptures so which you the two could confirm. Jehovah's people have the two adjusted and conformed to bare the fact. opposite to what some are saying; they do no longer rigidity the Scriptures to greater healthful their perspectives. Even in his e book "fact in Translation", Jason David BeDuhn, affiliate professor of religious examine at Northern Arizona college wrote that Jehovah's Witnesses attitude the Bible "with one in all those innocence and construct their gadget of concept and prepare from the uncooked textile of the Bible with out predetermining what became to be got here across." of direction, many clerics have been up in hands over that assertion!

Most likely because this little exchange happened, not in reality, but in your head.

Your first mistake was claiming that you're "saved by grace". Sorry, sweetness....but no one is saved right now. As it says in Matthew 10:22 ".....he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved." Has the end come yet? No, it hasn't. So you haven't been able to "endure to the end", which means you are NOT saved at present.

Just like you, Jehovah's Witnesses do have lives outside of the preaching work. It is entirely possible something came up in that individual's daily schedule that didn't permit their return to you today. It may be tomorrow, it may this weekend. (All of this under the assumption you even talked to someone.)

    - And it's "Jehovah's Witnesses", not "Jehovah Witness's".

I have had experiences to the point of them not sending the same ones back after a few visits so there are new ones every few times I talk to them about Scriptures. I have even invited them to bible studies and they never accept.

Why Jehovah's believe that Jehovah is God's name, I do not know. In Hebrew it is written as YWHW, which people spell as Yaweh. In Greek it is used Adonai as Lord. Jehovah is actually a combination of Yaweh and Adonai.

I know that many Kingdom Halls teach their congregants who go out that anything they are offered from someone they visit is actually either God testing them or from Satan (so they won't take it). Some even go so far as to say that anyone who "resists their message" is a messenger from Satan (so you may not see them for a few weeks).

    Edit:

    @The Truthseeker

What point exactly are you trying to make?

Could you use another translation besides NWT (aka Jehovah's witness "translation"). I have some strong disagreements with that translation (and I've had more than 2 years of Greek/Hebrew, unlike anyone who worked to translate the NWT)

Sun shine; The next time that a JW, comes back with the promised answers, will be the first time.

What JWs understand better than anything else, is that against an opponent who has any knowledge of the bible, they are totally unarmed.

Go to www.watchtower.org and request a free home bible study with Jehovah's witnesses if your really interested. like rolando, and rustic desires me{LOL} the truth will set you free from the nonsenses you heard regarding being saved, as rolando pointed out. the # 1 reason why people do not know it is non sense is because they never read the bible for themselves, content to listen to bad preachers who know nothing about the truth, here is a scripture for you, John 17;" 3 This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.".....so who is this who sent him forth? Jesus means" Jehovah is salvation" Jesus was a jew. who did the jews worship? if you said Jehovah, then there it is there psalms 83:18. you cannot win a debate of the bible with us, because we actually read it for ourselves every single day, and we are everyone of us MINISTERS of GOD. TRUTH! It's what's for dinner.

They consider you of satan's church, I had some coming around for awhile until I called them on their bad journalistic skills on their booklet "should you believe in the trinity" I showed them how their leaders in New York mis lead them by mis quoting people. taking things out of context (like they do the bible) to prove their unscriptual point. Tertullian, Justin Martyr to name a few.... JW's check out what these men really said, compared to what your "should you believe in the trinity" booklet says.
