Gaining weight after eating?

Why do you gain weight after eating? The scale says I gained 2 pounds today but I know I did not eat 7000 calories resulting in a 2 pound weight gain, in fact I probobly only had around 800 today. Why does the scale say I gained 2 pounds for? I weighed myself when I got up this morning and just now as I got ready for bed.
