What do you think about us going 900 Billion more in debt today?

The tax cut plan that the GOP forced on us, will cost us over 900 Billion dollars, it is not funded in the budget like the stimulus was used to pay for the middle class tax cut. The GOP forced the extension of the Bush tax cuts and held 97% of Americans hostage to get them. So we are borrowing MORE money now.

We borrow from more than China, we borrow from Iran also, in fact the "Oil producing member nations of OPEC" now hold a lot of US debt, the treasury won't say how much, but they are pretty high on the list.

So was all that talk about reducing the deficit just smoke and mirrors? John Boehner, and McConnell say that they are not going to remove earmarks from the way that the gov't spends. SO now we are even more in debt than we were when you went to bed last night.

Is this a good thing to do when we are in dire straits already? 900 Billion more foreign debt, that could rise to a TRILLION based on future interest rates?

Update:

Dennis, Congress cannot use the filibuster, that is only in the senate. Furthermore if the tax cuts were allowed to expire the GOP could have used the FILIBUSTER in the SENATE to block ANY legislation that would have allowed the middle class tax cut to be extended. Since the Dems do not have 61 Senators the GOP can use the "Nuclear Option" to kill any bill by letting it die on the floor and not come up for a vote.

They told Obama that they WOULD do this unless he made the Bush tax cuts permanent, or extended them. And they had the ability to do it!

... I have urged both my Senators and my Representative to fight this. We can't afford it. At times it feels like our country is being intentionally, systematically driven to Third World Status. It looks like it will be too late when The People finally wake up.

Just a couple of things. These tax cuts do not reduce the tax revenue but rather maintain the current levels. All they really do is fail to increase the current tax levels. So your argument that this is money we are spending is really quite ridiculous. Especially when compaired to the expenetial increases in spending the current Liberal government imposed on all of us. I realize that this infuriates those of you on the left. Especially since you were counting on "Redistribution" to pay for entitlements that you granted everyone without any plan for how to fund them.

What's even more ridiculous about this incoherent rant is the notion that in some way a small majority in the house was able to muscle the democrats who, as I understand it still command a considerable majority in the senate and the presidency. It just makes me so happy that liberals are always angry.

Wooo hooo I'm rich, because I got money from Bush. Actually Bush didn't quite double the debt, and I guess you won't mention that Obama has increased the Debt 3 Trillion dollars, in 18 months, and at that rate will increase the debt by 8 Trillion dollars in 4 years.

  • None of the cuts were funded, we were going to have to borrow 2.2 trillion for the middle class cuts. They were for 50 times the people, since they covered all americans.

In the senate, eliminating the filibuster is the "nuclear option"

The senate is part of congress.

Other then the points above, I agree with your assessment of the situation.

Sorry , but the GOP can't cause anything in congress because the dems have the "super" majority to pass anything..

The dems are to blame for everything that happens until january.. They have owned congress for 4 years. They now have a filibuster proof congress to pass any and everything they want, like obamacare....... So put your blame finger where it needs to be, pointed at the dems....

The National Debt has continued to increase an average of

$4.14 billion per day since September 28, 2007!

Funny, I thought you were talking about the extra money they were gonna borrow to reward lazy loser libs with 13 more months of unemployment. (instead of using some of the unused portion of the already borrowed, unconstitutional stinkulus funds to reward the deadbeats).

Tax-cut EXTENSIONS don't increase the debt. Irresponsible, unconstitutional Federal government spending increases debt.

we have 14 trillion dollars of debt currently..and the congress just passed the printing of 3 trillion dollars..but i think its pretty stupid because the more we print money, the less the value of the dollar is going to be..and another inflation is on the way...God bless America..

It's a good example of how much politicians have been adding in spending over the years.

  • This is funny......a lib worried about debt after Obama and the dems signed bills spending over a trillion
