I have old speakers from my last computer. Can I buy an amplifier so I can use them?

I would just like to recycle them (use them) but my present computer does not amplify. They were formerly powered by the monitor. Having switched monitors Now I have only speakers that dont work. I can plug them in but there is no amplification. Do I just need to throw them away and cough up 30$ for new ones with the amp inside them?

If you want to you can get an amplifier for your speakers, but they can be just as expensive as getting a new set of speakers that amplify. There as many advantages in using a separate amplifier from your speakers, but for a computer amplified speakers are best.
