You obviously know nothing about your own religion! The violence goes back to a dispute over who had spiritual authority over the Muslim community after the death of the prophet Muhammad in what is called the “fitna” which translates as temptation or trial and caused all the discord within Muslim community. Shi’ite Muslims believe that authority was vested in his family; the Sunnis look to the sayings and actions of Muhammad as well as the Koran. The extreme sectarian violence has been brought about by Al-Qaeda Which while being exclusively Sunni deliberately set Shi’ites and Sunnis to kill each other in Iraq. Sadly more muslims die by muslim hands each month than were killed by the invading forces in the war! Hamas also kills far more muslims than the Israelies ever have! An average of over thirty five muslims a week were being killed by muslims but in the last few years it has frequently been over a hundred a week! Whether it is a Danish Cartoon, book of fiction , a snippet of film or some other excuse, Muslims hit the streets around the world rioting, looting, burning and uttering death threats! Nearly all the muslim countries are seeing muslims attack muslims destroying homes, businesses, infrastructer and targeting women and children particularly showing the extremists must surely be trying to turn muslims into primitives living in caves and mud huts so they can be controlled more easily!

I watched the video. There is a fair bit in it I agree with.

I protested against the invasion of Iraq before it started.

But the video had essentially nothing on the nature of Islam at all.

I get that from Islamic sites such as Islamonline, and from face-to face encounters with those professing Islam.

One of those involved being told that my views deserved the death penalty here and now, never mind punishment in the afterlife.

I see in a range of places Islamic behaviour to those of other faiths (yes, I know it is not all one way!)

From the Maldives ot Indonesia to Pakistan to Nigeria.

I note there are countries where I could not openly declare my position and invite people to join me.

I would look forward to Islam quietly and gently fading from existence, the same as my attitude to all religions, they being only human artifacts with many negative traits.

But in the UK no-one has been executed for blasphemy or heresy for over 300 years (Thomas Aikenhead, 1697)

I take that to represent a degree of progress in religious freedom and equality in beliefs.

Can I expect equality from Islam? An understanding that my world view is due just as much respect as that of someone following Islam?

I've not experienced such. It has always come with an assumption that the Islamic view is superior and uniquely true. (this from some Christians, too). That is effectively a position of disrespect for what I believe.

If Islam does not offer me equality of respect, why should I do other than be wary of it?

Thank you for revealing this. I think many of us knew injustices always result in war. It is hard to stay focused on equality in a war zone when its kill or be killed and there are always some who join the military for the wrong reason. War is Hell.

These injustices we must all unite to fight against. Your tape does not outline the injustices of the Islamics where there are no freedoms, no options except to follow religious dogma or die.

This challenge will never be solved as long as we meet violence with violence. These soldiers are operating in an extremely violent environment and this propaganda treating it like a walk in the park where the US is always the instigator of violence is extremely misleading.

When we all accept reality instead of promoting hypocrisy we will be able to make constructive changes to protect innocent society and come together in peace and understanding. Your tape promotes hatred as much as the forces you fight against by shifting the blame. It is time we all got honest.

If Islam is such a “religion of peace,” why do they have to keep reminding us? Nobody’s running around saying “Christianity is a religion of peace” or “buddhism is a religion of peace” – because neither proposition is in doubt.

If Islam is so gentle and kindly, why does it have such appeal for the most savage and sadistic element in our society – those filled with resentment and rage, who like to hurt people (a lot)?

If you hear about a hijacking, suicide bombing, sniper attack or the beheading of a hostage anywhere in the world, your first reaction is: a Muslim did it. Why? Because 9 times out of 10 a Muslim did do it.

I'm wary of all religions that encourage the killing of people to futher their religious aims, and that includes Islam. The fact that Muslims are also the victims of others does not change that.

I've been called an Islamophobic just for being critical of the Qur'an and the hadith.

i don't see any christians or jews dropping heavy rocks on the heads of women or running over the arms of small children.

Can't nobody make me change my feelings against Islam, and Muslims. They are evil and all they do is murder people. Yeah you have a few good ones. All they do is beat there wives, torture young children,marry young girls ( force them ) throw rocks and stones on women heads.
