How do I get over stage fright?

I have to be in a play tomorrow... my A.P English teacher is making everyone be in a play that will be preformed in front of the whole school. Nobody wanted to audition, so she picked the parts for us. Unfortunately, I got the lead role. I know my lines, but I'm just really uncomfortable acting in front of people. The character I'm playing is really dramatic. How can I get over my stage fright and not be so nervous? Thanks in advance!

The best advice I can give you is to just go for it. I've studied acting for over 2 years now and at first my classmates used to refer to me as an 'awkward performer' which was upsetting... so I literally ignored all those nagging little voices in the back of my head and just did it, and did it with as much energy as possible. If you really attack it you will forget any fright you may feel. It might sound like its easier said than done, but this is not the case; concentrate, focus, stand tall, think about what you are doing and just attack the hell out of it :)

Stage fright is common for people just starting out. The best way to get over it is to put yourself in front of people every chance you get. After doing show after show you'll get over the nerves and being on the stage will be as natural as riding a bike
