Sometimes people react differently than what they expect,....Ambien can act as a sort of hypnotic stimulant which acts like a drug similar to "ERGOT" which is almost "LSD" (D-lysergic acid) which is a stimulant....thew same effect as eating moldy rye bread.....Now, there are other drugs that will definately help you sleep, some new ones,...."Lunesta",....Restoril,...then some older drugs which act only because they are antihystamines,.....benedryly (diphenhydramine HCL) or Unisom original blend (Doxylamine succinate) and Melatonin............I take Xanax myself 4Mg. when I don't have xanax I make a cocktail from two 50Mg benedryls, one Unisom original blend, one 5 Mg melatonin taken with a hot cup of hops tea or a cup of warmly nuked beer.....this actually works, not as well as xanax but it works,....there is also the possibility of the drug Ativan for you though it doesn't work for me............also Valium is another choice but it doesn't work for me..........Most hypnotic drugs have the effect of allowing you to wake up sooner than you want them to plus they'll possibly make you hallucinate......what you really need is the help of a sleep doctor but don't expect him or her to give you sleep meds, what you need to do is tell your doctor that you're having night terrors and you simply cannot sleep and it's affecting your life in a very negative way and you're treating people around you ina very nsapping kind of way and that you think peoplel are steering clear of you and that you'd give your left leg to get a decent night's sleep.......and go further by saying you're thinking you deserve to be able to sleep well and that you're feeling depressed because of it and that you've contemplated suicide.......................I only got my meds because I actually do have extremely sever insonia due to epilepsy.....my doctor doesn't really like prescribing xanax to me even with my epilepsy cuz of the DEA......so she's more of a puppet than a doctor, I actually told her that and it made our relationship worse for a few months.

But,......good luck to you anyway and I hope you get better.

    Nathan the 72 hour nutcase.

Try lavender essential oil. Lavender is really good for aiding sleep. Put a drop or two either on your pillow ( or on a piece of cloth and keep it next to your pillow so that you can smell the oil). Also, try to take bath with few drops of lavender in it before you go to bed. It'll relax your body. Another thing, if you make your body exhausted, it could help you sleeping too. Cuz your muscles and body will be tired and will need rest. Try to do some workout or something that you know will make you really tired. Hope it helps!

I was having alot of anxiety before sleeping and could not fall asleep. Had many many sleepless nights.

I was just playing with the program one afternoon and wanted to listen to the Power Nap track. Next thing I knew I was waking up! Fell right asleep without trying. After using the Fall Asleep track, I could fall asleep right away. But I didn't realize that I shouldn't be using that one all night. Switched to Whole Night and have been using it ever since.

I can go to sleep with ease now. I just lay and listen to the sounds and next thing I know I am waking up from a nice sleep. I don't suffer from lack of sleep anymore. I keep an IPod with earbuds next to my bed and take it ALWAYS when traveling. The earbuds help block out ambient noise and the sleep tracks keep me sleeping sound :)

Reboot your brain & sleep soundly again?

    Try something herbal.

Sleepytime tea, melatonin (produced in your body, tells your body it's time to shut down and go to sleep), lavender bath salts, a drop of lavender extract or oil on your pillow (scent of lavender eases anxiety), Gaba (calms you down).

Combine all those and you will be out. You could find all these things at your local health freak store. Good luck getting some sleep, without chemicals or whatever the hell is in those pills...!

Wow that is really weird with such strong sleeping pills. Maybe you should be medically evaluated. Maybe you are not taking them correctly or not taking enough of them. Maybe you have such severe anxiety that it keeps you up. Whatever it may be, it would be best to ask a doctor just in case it isn't something seriously wrong with you.

It may just not be the sleep aide for you. Let your doctor know and see if they can try something else. All Ambien did for me was make me nauseous and disoriented. Best of luck to you!
