I had to have an ingrown toenail removal. In the procedure the use phenol(acid) to kill the nail bed. Well the nurse put two small cups that were labeled one alcohol and one phenol. The procedure was done and the Doctor was cleaning off the iodine on my foot! I suddenly felt my foot burning and I Ask the Doctor what it was and she replied alcohol. Then she notices my skin turning colors and then smelled the cup. It was Phenol and it was poured all over my foot! She had to then pour alcohol on my foot to cancel out the phenol she also had to redo the whole procedure bc it was mixed the whole time. I was burned pretty bad, it even took out some of the ink in my tattoo and I think it is going to scar! Would you get a lawyer just incase of scaring that they would pay for damages like laser scar remover? What would you do?

I am worried I had my toenail removed. The nurse mixed up the containers that the alcohol and the phenol were in and she poured phenol all over my foot causing it to turn purple and burn. Should I be worried? My foot where the phenol was spilled has gotten worst in 2 days. She poured a lot of alcohol on my foot and said it was going to stop the phenol. Btw the only reason she knew she had it mixed up was after she was cleaning my feet with what she thought was alcohol and I said that burns what is it she continued and then she smelled the chemicals and had them mixed the entire time.
