Ammo question for savage 99?

Going pig hunting and planning to take my savage 99 in 308. Gun was manufactured in 1965. It shoots well but I dont want to run any hot rounds out of it. So question is what ammo would be recommended for pig hunting? Also do I need a higher energy round(hornady superformance federal HE round) for hunting large hogs. I have a ruger 77 in 308 which I have shot the hotter rounds with but would prefer the fast follow up shot of the 99. I was thinking of using federal fusion 165 grain loads, would these be good on hogs and does anyone have experience using them in a savage 99? Thanks

Hogs die easily use what you want, no super blow up stuff needed at all.I have guys take them with 17"s in the brain, no mystery, it is all about shot placement.

It is never the rifle or the ammo that screws up, it is always the nut

Behind the trigger!! You will do fine

    I like Remington Core-Lokt for factory ammo. I would 150 or 165 gr Core-Lokt.

    165 Fusions should do fine.
