Having a hard time with the loss of a pet?

He was a 16 yo Yorkie had kidney problems and the vet said nothing but suffering, to let him go on, and I put him to sleep I feel like a bad person now. Has this happened to anyone else ? But my Question is and if your religious or not Does he have a soul and DID he go to heaven?

I went through the same thing with my dog on November 1st of this year. She had just turned 12 in October. She had a bad urinary tract infection that we started treating, then she lost a lot of weight (20 lbs) in two months. The vet thought it was probably cancer when we took her in for a recheck on the infection. Less than a week later she went into kidney failure and we had to put her to sleep. I still feel horrible that my boyfriend and I had to make a choice whether she lived or died, and late at night I feel so guilty that I couldn't have done anything to make her better. I know that if I hadn't put her to sleep, she would have passed on within a day or two, but it would have been very painful for her, and to keep her like that would have been selfish of me. I believe dogs have souls, and that you will be reunited. I found help from this website : http://www.petloss.com/rainbowbridge.htm and if you scroll down they have a place where you can enter your pets name and age, as well as a candle-lighting ceremony on Monday evenings where you can chat with other pet owners. I am sorry for your loss, they take a huge chunk of your heart when they have to leave us.

I had the same problem, my American Eskimo we had for over 11 years had kidney problems, and the vet said to put him down, it was the most traumatic experience of my life, and I still sometimes cry over him.

We got a new dog about 8 years after the Eskimo's death, and we just got another puppy today, but it still won't fill the hole that I have, my first dog was the best dog ever, and nothing can replace him, but these two dogs we have sure are doing a pretty good job.

I believe my dog is in heaven, with no suffering and just living the life!

I am very sorry for your loss

Yes, he went to Heaven, he's in a good place:) I feel your pain and have been through the same type of thing multiple times, sadly. It is not easy to go through these things honestly. It takes time to heal the pain. You are not a bad person by doing this. You actually did the right thing by making it so he doesn't have to suffer anymore. Maybe I am just used to this because I have lost nearly 10 dogs and am only 14. I recently lost my dog I have had ever since I was 6 due to the attack from a coyote. Just know that he is in a happy place and God is looking after him for you.

You did what was right. I believe that he went on to a better place, whether that is heaven or not u decide. But the truth is that now his soul is at peace. In my opinion he moved onto heaven. While before no matter how much you loved eachother he was still suffering in the hell of intense pain. I hope this helps... Advice helped me through my pets death. My neighbor shot my dog in the neck. He died in my arms. For some reason i blamed myself. But the truth is you cant controll your life. Putting your dog to sleep was a good desiscion. Your a good person to end his suffering.

First, I would like to say I am sorry that you lost your dog. You did an excellent job raising him. He made it to 16 and that is rare. You have absolutely nothing to feel bad about.

If your dog could talk, do you think he would say "buddy could you please help me out? I'm in pain. Is there anyway you could take me out of it?" And what would your answer be? To do exactly what you did. I would also do the same.

Do dogs go to heaven? I do believe so. It is not for me to question God, but I do not know why he would make such lovable, beautiful, loyal creatures just to let them be gone forever. I know I want to see my dogs again. That would be heaven for me.

You are not a bad person. You did right by your furry little family member. I am very sorry for your loss and the pain you are going through. But, if you could erase the pain, but only at the cost of loosing every memory of your dog, would you? I would bet you wouldn't.

Now it is a long story, so I won't bother you with it. But I know for a fact dogs have a soul, spirit, and intelligence that carries on beyond this life. So you will see your little fur buddy again.

A Little Dog Angel (by: Noah M. Holland)

High up in the courts of heaven today

    a little dog angel waits;

with the other angels he will not play,

but he sits alone at the gates.

"For I know my master will come" says he,

"and when he comes he will call for me."

The other angels pass him by

As they hurry toward the throne,

And he watches them with a wistful eye

as he sits at the gates alone.

"But I know if I just wait patiently

that someday my master will call for me."

And his master, down on earth below,

as he sits in his easy chair,

    forgets sometimes, and whispers low

to the dog who is not there.

And the little dog angel cocks his ears

and dreams that his master's voice he hears.

And when at last his master waits

outside in the dark and cold,

for the hand of death to open the door,

that leads to those courts of gold,

he will hear a sound through the gathering dark,

    a little dog angel's bark.

Dogs go to and are in heaven. Because without dogs, it just wouldn't be heaven, now would it.

I'm 100% sure he went to doggy heaven. I mean, there was nothing for you to do so you shouldn't feel all guilty about it. And think about all the good times you had with each other. I'm pretty sure that'll help you

I would think God will make room in heaven for the creatures that he had explained that he loved to make. I mean, they are sinless, they have not gone againts any law. So why not ;)

If dogs don't go to heaven... I want to go wherever they go.
