Nonshedding dogs that don't look like Ewoks?

My parents are looking for a dog. They definitely want a low/non shedding breed, but all the dogs they've looked at look like ewoks, I swear. I prefer more normal looking dogs (without their faces scrunched in or hair all in their eyes like a poodle or a lhasa apso). Any suggestions?

Extra points for good family dogs that have nice friendly temperaments.

i have a shih tzu and hes the best gift ive ever received i hate the long hair look so i keep his face and body short when i take him to the groomer i tell them i don't like the shih tzu look they have no problem cutting it to make you happy! they are fun energetic and filled with love if you cant fall in love with their big eyes then there's something wrong with you lol they are very friendly and they love people, kids and attention. they will cuddle with you at night and they are easy to potty train they don't need a lot of exercise like most dogs do so they make good apartment pets over all they are so sweet and i don't think i would ever ger a different bread http://petmotelandsalon.com/images/pictures/phase1...

All dogs shed to some extent, some dogs just do not shed as much as others.

    American Hairless Terrier

    Mexican Hairless Terrier (Xoloitzcuintli)

Cairn Terrier (Popular & Good Family dogs!)

Italian Greyhounds (not good with very young children)

    Schnauzer (miniature, standard, & giant)

    Westie (West Highland White Terrier)

Scottie (Scottish Terrier)-I have a 8 year old wheaten Scottie & I have to say, although she doesn't shed when she's up and about, if you blow-dry her fur after a shower...do it outside & don't talk while you dry! Fur goes FLYING. But otherwise, shed-free!

Yorkshire Terrier (clipped coat wouldn't let it look like an Apso)

Norfolk & Norwich Terriers (floppy & pointed-like a witch's ears!)-freakin awesome little dogs that are great with children and....you MUST SEE THEM WADDLE AROUND on their stumpy legs haha

    Welsh Terrier-good with children

    Wire-haired Fox Terrier

Wire-haired Pointing Griffon-good with children & has a rugged, grizzled look

Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen-good with children (short lil dogs)

    Bedlington Terrier-lambs

    Border Terrier-boss dogs

Basenji-only dog that yodel (most normal looking dog out of the bunch to be honest-so far that I've listed)

Dandie Dinmont Terrier (http://www.terrificpets.com/articles/Dandie_Dinmon... - One of the characteristics about a Dandie Dinmont Terrier is its patience with children. Its gentle nature makes it a perfect house pet for homes where there are children. )

    :)

I would have listed the Airedale, Kerry Blue, & other Terriers but I feel like they have a fluff on their face that looks a little odd since their coats are kinky-between straight & really really curly. XD

    Hope this helped!

ha ha, i don't like those squished faced powder puffs either. I don't know any off the top of my head, but you can go to the link below where it asks you questions about what type of dog you want and gives you suggestions on the perfect dog for your family. Hope your parents find an amazing dog!

Maybe a yorkie or yorkie mix? They have smooth coats and normal faces. And tey are sweet, active little things! My dogs "boyfriend" (they're both fixed, but I swear they're in love!) is a yorkie... In the summer my friend and I take them to the dog beach and while mine sometimes gets intimidated by dominant dogs (jrt mix) Cricket is so confident and sweet to everyone!

The list below seems a bit generous.

Use it as a starting point.
