He scared the crap out of me earlier. He was just sprawled out on his back passed out. The second I talked to him he popped up and looked rather preturbed that I woke him but I thought it odd that he was sleeping that way. Or is he just super comfortable?

So, I care for a stray. Hes not feral or anything... he got left behind by someone else in my complex a coupke years ago so I got him an insulated house and feed him and let him in on occaision. I can't keep him permanently as I am HORRIBLY allergic to him so don't go there. I'm doing the best I can for him. Anyways. He showed up today with a big greasy stain on him. I'm afraid he won't be able to keep warm with his fur compromised like this. Is there a way I can get it off without bathing him? I'm not bathing a stray cat. I do not have a death wish. Also, I live in a small town in northern california and there are no groomers that do cats around here. any ideas?

Today is the two year anniversary of a very dear friend's death. He was Wiccan and I would like to understand more of where he is and what he believed. I've read some stuff online about it but the thing is, he took his own life. Is Wicca one of those religions that punishes those that take their own life?

I have a new foster bun, and for some odd reason he has no desire to eat vegetables. All he wants is pellets, which he gets each evening and scarfs them as if he's starving. Meanwhile his hay rack is stuffed full of sweet orchard grass and his salad goes untouched. I've tried so many different greens and he barely touches it. Kale, collard greens, mustard greens, romaine, parsley, red leaf, spinach, carrot tips, dandelion greens... Nada. He turns his nose up at it all. How can I get him interested in eating this crucial part of his diet??

So, I've had my little rescued Netherland dwarf for about 3 years, and his mate recently passed away and he became depressed, so I went to the shelter and saved a "red listed" bunny (she was to be euthanized that night). I've been bonding them since April, and last week they began grooming each other. I've had dates every day since then and the grooming has continued, along with stretching out and sleeping next to each other.

My question is, when should I try housing them together? They each have a puppy play pen that they live in, and my ultimate goal was to put the two pens together and just give them a dang mansion to live in. I want to start out small though and put them in just one. Who's pen and when? Where? I know I need to clean everything with vinegar to neutralize any scents but should I also try setting the pen up in a totally different room first? I'm only being so cautious because while he is a dwarf (1.2 lbs... Extremely small), she is around 6 lbs of mini lop and a tad territorial. She hasn't been so territorial lately but I know how she can be. Help from some major bun experts please??

A friend of mine bought a hamster recently, and low and behold, it was pregnant when she bought it, so she's got 9 little ones to find homes for and she's bugging me to take one. I have experience with other small mammals, mainly rabbits though, and there is so much mixed info on the Internet that I think I'd rather get a few personal opinions...

I have a 10 gal terrarium, but I've read mixed things on whether they're appropriate housing or not. I was considering using this and a tank topper to give the wee thing some extra space. Is this adequate? Or would an all-wire cage be better? Obviously nothing with a wire floor, I'm aware of bumblefoot. But yeah. Anyone wanna weigh in on this?

I took in a neighborhood stray who the vet estimated to be around a year old. She has 4 puppy teeth left in her mouth and the crowding looks so uncomfortable. Her adult teeth are in, but the puppy teeth are just crammed in there. I've gotten her raw bones to chew and many toys (the vet said it was likely she just had nothing to teethe on when she was a pup and that's why they're still there) but they won't come loose. Any ideas before I schedule a very expensive dental?

I'm building a large pen from those wire storage cubes for my rabbits, but haven't decided on what to sue for the floor. I have tile flooring so it's very slippery, and they can't hop very well on it. I considered fleece or a throw rug, but one of my buns is a digger/chewer. I think she just has a strong nesting instinct even though she is spayed. I'm not a fan of that plastic stuff normally used in these sorts of cages. Any other suggestions?

A few days ago I found a little chihuahua... The vet estimated between 3-5 years old. While he got a clean bill of health, he is severely emaciated (due to starvation, nothing else :( ) and has TERRIBLE plaque build up. What I'm trying to do is to get him at a healthy weight, get his teeth somewhat under control, neuter him and then find him a home. My questions are a.) is there anything I should do to make him gain weight? Maybe an extra meal mid-day? Special diet? Or just feed him 2x a day like a normal dog? and b.) What products do you recommend for reducing plaque build-up? I'm trying to avoid anesthetic teeth-cleaning due to the cost, but if that's all I can do I'll just suck it up and do it.

My brother goes deep sea fishing... a LOT. I now have a freezer full of bluefin tuna.He even l me some belly meat! I was just gonna sear the steaks, but to cook the belly meat would be a sin. Anyone have any recipes for a dipping sauce or marinade for the sushi cuts of the fish? This is flash-frozen fresh caught bluefin btw :)

A while back, I was at a petco/petsmart... I forget which... And they had these really cool snakes. They were bright green, really small and lived in groups. They spent their time up on the vines in the cage all together... They were really cool looking. The guy there said they ate crickets and small fish, they were NOT garter snakes though. Anyone know what these are? I want to look into getting a couple but I can't look up any care sheets since I don't remember what they're called. Thanks!

So my friend found this kingsnake (no not wild) and gave it to me since she couldn't keep it. She had fed it once before with a f/t pinky mouse and gave us the othe frozen pinky when we took her. We fed her the f/t pinky yesterday and it seemed to be too small. She ate it very quickly, and once it moved past her throat, there was no food bump. I'm guessing a f/t fuzzy/hopper would be more appropriate for her next meal. My question is, since she just ate yesterday (Monday) when should I feed her her next meal? I feel bad that yesterday's was so small but I don't want to over feed her. I was going to feed her again on Monday since that will be one week. Opinions?

I have a kingsnake... and I know, they like to burrow and stuff... but she spends a lot of time under the aspen and I can't see her. It's a little unnerving since they are notorious escape artists. Anything else I can use that she can still burrow a little bit in but not completely hide? Just so I don't constantly feel as though she's escaped...

Found someone's cal king snake roaming my neighborhood. No, they're not native here and he/she is very tame... also accept frozen/thawed food with no problem. Definitely an escaped/dumped pet. No one is claiming it so my boyfriend and I are keeping it. I've been shopping online for some decor for it's tank since we purchased a 29 gal terrarium for it and It seems to like to climb... Is that normal? This is my first snake, though not my first reptile. Should I be looking into a climbing structure for it? Any other must-haves for it? I am currently using shredded aspen for it, 2 hideouts, 2 water dishes (one on the cool side one on the warm side of the tank) an under-tank heater, and this rock decor-thing I had laying around... Am I doing all of this right?

Recently found a small California King Snake roaming around in my neighborhood. No one has claimed him/her and since my boyfriend has always wanted one, I figured there's no harm in keeping the lil guy/gal, right? Anyways. A friend gave me a 10 gal tank and heat lamp to house it in for now, but since we're keeping it I figure it'll need a proper home. I read that they get 3-6 feet when full grown and that 20-25 gallon tanks are usually suitable. Since he/she is only about a foot long right now is the 10 gal terrarium alright until it gets bigger. If the one is suitable for now, how will I know when it is time to upgrade and get a larger cage? I know about a hot side and a cool side, and that it needs a hiding place on each side but should I be using a lamp or an under-tank pad? Is there a way to tell the sex of it? Any other tips are greatly appreciated. thanks!

I answered a question on here a couple weeks ago and the girl gave me her email and asked if I would email her because she had more questions related to the one I'd answered. I'm a helpful gal, so I obliged and like, 2 days later she's demanding I buy her gift cards out of the blue. So I tell her no and ask her to stop emailing me and of course she wont. How do I report, and more importantly, block her?

I usually givey dogs a snack, shut them in the bedroom furthest from the street and turn on a radio or tv for some background noise to help drown out the fireworks, but they still get nervous. Anyone have a better plan?

Do I just lay it flat somewhere until it's dry or is there some other method to it?

My Netherland Dwarf was born with malocclusion (his jaw is misaligned therefore he cannot file his own teeth down on wood/hay like a normal rabbit) and has to get his teeth clipped monthly. I have looked into having his incisors removed but my vet doesn't think it is a good idea since his case isn't severe (meaning it doesn't affect his molars). The issue I'm having is that his teeth are becoming brittle from all the clipping and they cracked earlier today at his monthly vet appointment. She suggested I purchase a calcium supplement and/or feed him more foods that are high in calcium.

What are some bunny-safe foods that are high in calcium? Should I mix a bit of alfalfa in with his timothy hay to help? If I choose to go the supplement route, what would you recommend?

I've been looking into getting a small-ish (30 gallons or so) freshwater tank for my home. I haven't had a fish tank since I was a child and let's face it, mom did most of the work :P

I'm just looking for opinions really... Not sure if I should get a tropical freshwater tank or goldfish... Long or tall tank... What types of fish would be comfortable in a tank that size and what sort of decor (or does that even matter?). Basically I want happy healthy fish with minimal care since it will be my first fish habitat. Any and all tips/suggestions appreciated!
