Is it a coincidence that early humans worshiped the sun?
And Christians have that shiny disk around holy people's heads (they call it a "halo")?

Early humans also worshiped stars, the moon, rocks, fire, and animals. What's your point?
Sometimes a circle is just a circle. The halo was artistic symbolism to show that the person being represented is dead, holy, a god, whatever.

No its no coincidence.
The radiance of the sun can be depicted in a finite number of ways that is perceptible to the human eye.
Likewise, the artistic representation of a halo is limited by the ability of a viewer to perceive it.

The Sun never asks for money, but just about the only thing that the religions agree on is the collection baskets.

Actually that's a Catholic thing and it's based on paganism.
And said that this is inscribed on the remains of the temple the Vatican was built on, one dedicated to the God Mithras. "And that "Egyptian sun disks became the halo's of the Catholic saints."
