Is having pencil graphite under my skin dangerous?

Question

Alright, so, throughout school I was stabbed by the class psycho three times with a pencil.  At least twice the graphite tip broke off, and the other might just be too deep to see.  The moral of the story was don't annoy the psycho with the pointy stick, but now that I've learned that, is there anything I need to worry about regarding possible health problems caused by that.

I know that pencils no longer use any lead or heavy metals, and the graphite itself is harmless to the body, but could something in the binder lead to troubles down the road?

you could get an infection of some sort... that's the only long term effect that i can think of

I accidentally stabbed myself in the finger with a very sharp pencil when I was in middle school--over ten years ago. The pencil tip broke off in my finger and I got most of it out, but a tiny piece and some residue were left. The wound healed, quickly and without incident, but left a dark mark which I have to this day. (I have very light skin so it's easy to see) Graphite is made out of carbon. So are you. Having some graphite in your skin is not going to hurt you. It's inert. The only thing you have to be concerned with is the wound getting infected. Just wash your hands a lot. You've got nothing to worry about.

When I was in middle school I used to always accidentally stabbed my hand with a pencile and the last time (3 years ago) the lead broke in it nothing hepened healed up just fine but you can still see the lead

Any time you have a foreign object in your body there is a potential of infection.
