  • An aicraft is spotted at (0,0,1)?

Given a vector in R3 to the power of 3, its angles with the coordinate axes are called directional angles. In this quiz, we denote them theta x, theta y and theta z respectively.

The quiz is related to the technology for anti-aircraft guns during the WWII era. Suppose that an enemy plane is spotted at the position (0,0,1) escaping in the direction (1,1,1) with a constant velocity 150 m/s. Suppose that the anti-aircraft gun is situated at the origin of the coordinate system. The velocity of its shells is 300 m/s. Calculate the directional angles of the gun barrel in order to shoot down the enemy's plane.

  • When do I need insurance when buying from a dealership in MI?

    Alright, some basic facts.

This is my first time buying from a dealership and the first time putting a car in my own name and my first time insuring a car myself.

I'll be picking up a used ZX2 from a used car lot (Don't worry about that, I'm a former used bike salesman and currently do sales for mil spec hardware so I know the game and have a fair understanding of how cars work and what to look for to spot problems.).

With the private sales I have done in the past I have gotten the title signed and drove home, then gotten insurance then got the title, plate, and registration.

However dealerships are required to submit the title and paperwork for you to the SoS at the time of purchase.

    The scenario I imagine is:

    I pay for the car

they submit the paperwork for plate, title and regsitration

    I drive home

I purchase insurance on the car

the insurance company reports electronically to the SoS that the vehicle is now covered

plate title and registration are sent out.

If anyone can help me out it is greatly appreciated. And yes I have looked all over the SoS FAQ about buying and titling a vehicle for this info and could find none.

  • XP hangs on agp44.sys after interrupted update.?

    Hi,

I recently upgraded a PC to XP SP3 for a friend, he was complaining about it being too slow afterward, so I offered some RAM I had laying about. I headed over to his house telling him to have the computer off when I got there. Apparently he never got around to install the subsequent updates to SP3, so when he shut down it went about doing so, and then just before I got there, he did a hard shut down by holding the power button for 5 sec. I get there, install the RAM, and the stupid thing is stuck in a boot loop, in safe mode it makes it just past mup.sys, a hang I've encountered before, to stop at agp440.sys, at which point it quickly reboots.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

  • Cost to rewire a single outlet?

Alright, I live in a house built in 1903, which was rewired some time in the late 70's, and only has 2 wire, non-grounded outlets on the second floor. Before you even recommend it, I can't use GFCI outlets. I use the outlet for audio equipment, such as a guitar amp and a speaker system. The amp is terribly effected by the lack of a proper ground, to the extent of using me as an artificial ground while I'm touching any grounded area of the guitar.

So, what I wan't to know is how much is a fair price to have a professional electrician rewire one outlet. The house's main floor and breaker box is new within the last four years, and the bathroom on the first floor is properly grounded, so everything should be there for him to work with, including a grounded outlet, all he would need to do is run the new wires hook everything up at each end.

    Detroit area BTW.

Thanks for any advice you have.

  • Is having pencil graphite under my skin dangerous?

Alright, so, throughout school I was stabbed by the class psycho three times with a pencil. At least twice the graphite tip broke off, and the other might just be too deep to see. The moral of the story was don't annoy the psycho with the pointy stick, but now that I've learned that, is there anything I need to worry about regarding possible health problems caused by that.

I know that pencils no longer use any lead or heavy metals, and the graphite itself is harmless to the body, but could something in the binder lead to troubles down the road?

  • Can someone recommend a really large toaster oven for powder coating?

I want to start powder coating at home, and since only an idiot would try to cure it in the same oven they cook food in, I want a second oven for my work. I don't have 220 in my garage, so a commercial PC oven and a actual range are both out of the question, and far too big for my range of work.

Ideally I would want to be able to do at least one 6x12x24 valve cover, but I know that that is probably asking too much.

It also has to be able to reach 400 degrees F to cure the PC.

    Thanks for the help.

  • What should I get my godfather/cousin as a wedding gift?

So, my cousin, who's also my godfather, is getting married next month, and I am at a loss of what to get him as a gift. I'm a college student who only works 32 hours a week and am already driving from Michigan to Florida for his wedding, so I can't afford much for a gift, and having been on his own for nearly 20 years between him and his fiancée I'm sure they have every small appliance in the world.

We've sort of drifted apart over the years, so all I really know about him is that if his tattoos are anything to go by he loves Tweety Bird and Chevrolet, and he likes his alcohol a bit too much. Maybe a gift card for Applebees, they have those in Florida, right? I'm looking for something in the $25-$40 range and have a month to get it.

  • Compressed air with mapp gas setup?

Alright, I have a bernzomatic oxy-mapp setup for small welding jobs, but I am tired of paying for their O2 tanks, Could I just make a connector which screwed into the oxy hose and connect that to my air compressor. If it helps it's an oil free compressor.

  • Want to build a fiber glass sub box, need opinion.?

Alright, so I want to build an under seat sub woofer enclosure for my smaller sports coupe. There's not much room at all under the seats, so I was thinking about going with a Pioneer 8" shallow mount sub, but the box is causing me a bit of a headache. I haven't had a chance to take a measuring tape to it, and doing so would be difficult.

My idea is to get a can of the spray foam stuff used to seal homes, to inflate a garbage bag under the seat. After letting it sit and dry for a while, I'll remove the seat, pull the bag out with the exact dimensions of my seat and then play from there. I'll take the bag off of the foam and probably sand it down from there to fit my needs. I'll then use fiber glass to build up the box from the foam mold.

Any thoughts on better ways to do this?

PS: The car is a 2000 Mercury Cougar incase anyone has actual dimensions.

  • Good head unit for 2000 Mercury Cougar.?

Alright, I'm looking for a new head unit for my cougar, I only plan to swap the head unit at first, then get some decent speakers, and then probably a sub, so I don't need a kit. I have been looking at the Alpine IDA X303 as it fits many of my below needs and wants, but I'm definitely not settled.

    Needs:

Out of the box iPod and iPhone connectivity. (It would be great if it worked with second gen iPod Mini.)

    HD radio ready.

    Bluetooth ready.

At least two RCA out channels.

Rear facing USB for glove box storage of iPod.

    1 or 1.5 DIN size.

Built in amp for 4 speakers, stereo sound.

    Can not exceed $250.

    Wants:

Forward facing USB and SDHC for MP3 playback.

    HD radio built in.

    Bluetooth built in.

Green back light and buttons, can have red highlights.

No CD player, Media receiver only (It just makes it one less part to break...)

    AUX in on the faceplate.

    Non removable faceplate.

    $free!

    Any suggestion are appreciated.

  • Should I change the oil in my car before a road trip?

Alright, weekend after next I'll he driving about 600 miles each way from Detroit Michigan to Hershey PA. I normally change the oil every 4k miles, but think I might want to do this 1k miles early this time since I'll be putting so many miles on the car in such a short amount of time.
