have biffy clyro lost all credibility?

ive been a big fan of the band for years infact ive got tickets for the foo fighters summer gigs at milton keynes simply because biffy are support act

but just incase you aint aware this years x factor song is a biffy clyro cover (many of horror) have they lost all credibility as true rock gods by allowing simon cowells multi million pound band wagon to come rolling in their direction

OR

have they in some way brought credibility to that manufactured pop crap by allowing the x factor winner to use their song?

personally i hate the idea theyve allowed their material to be hijacked by simon cowells money making machine

Money talks...I hate it too, why the frak has this happened??!

I heard the cover today, actually. It was going well up until the effing key change halfway through...and then I got disgusted and enraged for about five minutes. I do not like it...at all.

This is a very shrewd move for the band commerically. They can tap into the 25-45 year old Matt Cardle/X-Factor fans who like a good soft rock song. It'll get their name further out, get better slots at festivals and sell more music and ticket-wise.

Musically, their fans will hate them. The "Blackened Sky/Vertigo Of Bliss" fans (if there are any of them left) will hate that Biffy have become a Kings Of Leon-type band that write boring, plain rock songs that appeal to the mainstream. They started in earnest with "Puzzles" and have stepped it up with "Only Revolutions".

I hate it as well. I also don't understand why they changed the name to When We Collide.

a lot of people I know (Pop fans, hate Rock) have been saying stuff like 'When We Collide is such a good song!' and I always correct them, and tell them It's a Biffy Clyro song.

Biffy will always have the better version, of course.

This is kind of like how it was when Muse agreed to have some of their songs in Twilight (yuk) when they didn't know how much of a fuss it would cause.

It might've been the record label who allowed it to be used. Also Biffy Clyro's label could be owned by Simon Cowell's label in some way. So they might have not have had a choice.

If an artist wants to cover a song they don't personally have to ask the songwriter, they just need to pay royalties. I'd be pretty surprised if Biffy Clyro agreed to this.

Biffy have gone soft recently but personally I like their softer sound. At the end of the day all bands have to progress if they want to survive and I would quite like them to survive!

Most likely, i dont like them personally but now they've sold out to simon cowell it's shown how they've been sucked into the pop insdutry for sure.

It was the same with Kings of Leon, they were small and only a few people liked them, then they got taken up by a big company, everyone loves now them apart from their old fans.

It's a shame bands feel they have to include themself into such a horrid manufactured business but its life.

    you're wrong.

    biffy clyro are not good.

biffy clyro are not rock gods.

i wouldn't even class biffy clyro as rock, not anymore at least.

biffy clyro are grade A pish. **** lyrics. **** singer. totally average.

most overrated band i think i've ever come across.
