Roulette players, what is the best system you ever tried?

In gambling, there is a concept called "Expected Value". In a nutshell, it's what you should EXPECT to win ON AVERAGE for every bet you make.

ON AVERAGE, you will LOSE around 53 cents for every 10 dollars you wager on the roulette wheel over the course of your lifetime.

It makes ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY NO DIFFERENCE what you do, how you bet, what the size of your wagers are, which numbers or colors you bet on, whether you "watch" the wheel for 20 spins before you place a bet. NOTHING makes a difference.

On average, you WILL LOSE in the long run playing roulette.

If you want to be one of the elite few to ever beat the roulette wheel in their lifetime, here is what I would suggest:

Take as much money as you can get together and bring it to the casino. Slap it ALL down on BLACK for 1 spin only!

If you lose, your done. You just saved yourself years of wondering if you can beat roulette. The answer was "no", and you're broke for a bit. Never play again.

If you WIN, fantastic! NEVER PLAY AGAIN! If you NEVER play roulette again, you will be one of the EXTREMELY rare people that can say they've done so.

Long story short, I doubt you really want to follow my suggestion. I tell you the truth about roulette. If you try to beat the game, you do so at your peril.

    ***EDIT***

Just a comment about the people who actually tried to give you their "system". It was nice of them to answer your question so thoroughly, but neither of those people is really going to profit in the long run.

Chantal's system is nice in that you're not playing a lot of money at once. If she is actually ahead playing in her lifetime, it's only because she hasn't played very long, and she has been very lucky so far. More likely she is not ahead but remembers the times she walked away with a profit more than she remembers losing.

PAULA talks about a "hit and run" style. Good advice to walk out if you're ahead, but again - this does NOT mean she has actually MADE money playing roulette. Let's say you play just ONE SPIN each time you go to the casino, and then STOP after that one spin each time. Let's also say you do that for 100 trips to the casino. That is ABSOLUTELY, POSITVELY no different than if you just sat down and played 100 spins in a row.

Roulette is a very tough game to beat in the long run . Many times its tough to beat in the short run . Former free lance gambling writer here , semi-retired now , age 63 . Have written articles for national publications during the 1970's , 80's , and early 1990's . Have written articles on casino games , horse racing , sports wagering , lottery , etc . The odds in all casino games are stacked against you in the long run . The only thing you can do as a casino player is to KNOW HOW TO PLAY YOUR GAME TOUGH , MAKE THE CASINO WORK HARD IN REMOVING YOUR MONEY FROM YOU . I have a roulette system that requires you to play only $5.00 when you arrive at the casino and then play $5.00 on roulette when you are leaving the casino . The most you will lose on each casino visit is a total of $10.00 . My roulette system is not desinged for long term play , only a suggestion on how to play roulette for fun and maybe a nice hit now and then as you visit the casino to play your favorite casino games . You will have to win only once using my roulette system and you will have to lose 24 straight times in order not to break even . In other words you can lose 10 straight casino visits (losing total $10 each time ) , or lose 20 straight casino visits (losing $10 each time) , then when you hit anywhere just one time , you will be either even or on the plus side (more than likely on the plus side) . My roulette angle is what I call : THE CASINO WARM UP ROUTINE . All you are doing is giving the Roulette wheel a shot when you walk into the casino and also when you are leaving the casino . You will be playing the Wheel one time when you walk in at $5.00 total wagered and playing the Wheel one time when you are going home from the casino at $5.00 total wagered . I am not going to give my Roulette angle here away . It is my own angle, a fun angle just to have some fun with and maybe get lucky and even win with it now and then . Take care , Tony , Michigan

The best system I tried on roulette game is Martingale system BUT unfortunately same is the worst system I ever tried on roulette game.

I mean to say that in roulette game, you can't rely on any system for sure win. Roulette is a game of LUCK and CHANCE so forget using any system in roulette game and play safely and play in the limit of your bankrolls.

I take stacks of chips, play my favorite numbers (combos of red and black, odd and even), throw something on the zeros, and then if I hit, I cash in and walk out the door. If I don't hit, I try again, and if I don't hit the second time, I walk out the door. KEY WINNING POINT BEING WALKING OUT THE DOOR. The longer you sit, the longer you have a chance of losing. I've sat and talked with people who will sit at that table and talk about how much they won the day before, and then turn around and say they're down a couple of hundred on the next day. Unless you want to live in a casino, I suggest you hit and leave, or after not hitting two or three times, leave anyway. If you just have to have action, order drinks and just watch the wheel spin and watch others play. I've had great times watching people throwing down $25.00 chips, $100.00 chips (high limit table), and watching folks write down numbers in their little notebooks and charts. That's always a blast. If anyone wins, you cheer. If they lose, you don't. Roulette players are very generous. I've had people on more than one occassion place bets for me without me having to use my money, and I've had people bankroll me also. JUST KEEP AS MUCH OF YOUR MONEY IN YOUR POCKET AS YOU CAN. You'll be better off in the end.

Walk around, look at ur tbls. The numbers. I know they're random but trust me there is human error that plays in as well. If numbers are hot start playing only if you feel comfortable at the tbl. Play those and some other bets if you wish . Lucky? Stay. But not 4 2 long. Not lucky? leave.

Not playing roulette. No system works.

I lay out five chips--one between the 0 and 00, and the remaining four on four straight-up numbers which are contiguous on the wheel. I avoid the even money and other outside bets.

My winnings are modest but reasonably steady. I don't win every spin, but I win a lot more often than I would normally expect. When I have played all of my original stake, I quit and cash in my winnings.

It's not spectacular, but you can generally come out ahead.
