We have an outside Tom & an inside female?

Is it safe to let in our Tom during the cold weather, if the inside female is not in heat? Is that the only time they would mate or do they need to be separated all the time ? thank you in advance for your help.

Why not get the female spayed and the male neutered, and keep them both in the house?

Are you talking cats here (Toms?) if so, you may attract more response worth reading, if you switch this to the Cat section.

Most animals will only mate when the female is in season but as Queens seem to be in season all the time (LOL) I'd not risk having the together - bring him in if it's that cold outside, but keep him in a crate. He may spray all over the place in any case, so need confining!!

you should have your Tom neutered and keep him inside where he will be safe and live a long and happy life.

Are you talking about cats? one answer indicated you were referring to dogs?

Cats can come into their season with little warning, so I would not take the chance of keeping them together when both of them are intact.

I would think that that would be safe.

Male dogs are not called Toms. That is a male cat. Please do not insult dogs. Cats are vermin.
