No, since for each x value, you have two y values.

    Define Y

no because to be a function you have to have only one y per x. for this equation 3 or -3 would give the same x of 9...just used those as an example. could have been many different numbers.

    Well I am a student in a Gunies Math Class soo this is what It might be! y^2 = x^3 + 3x^2 dy/dx(y2 = x3 + 3x2) 2y(d/dx)=3x^2+6x d/dx=(3x^2+6x)/2y d/dx when x=1 and y= -2 d/dx=(3(1)^2+6(1))/2(-2) d/dx=(3+6)/-4 d/dx=-(9/4) tangent line equation: y=(d/dx)(x-xvalue)+yvalue y=(-9/4)(x-1)-2 y=-(9/4)x+(9/4)-2 y=-(9/4)x+(9/4)-(8/4) y=-(9/4)x+ (1/4) d/dx=(3x^2+6x)/2y 0=(3x^2+6x)/2y 0=3x^2+6x 0=3x(x^2+2) a. y= -(9/4)x+(1/4) b. x=0

    no, it defines x.

to define y it would be y=+/-Sqrt(x)
