Nice, Cheap US vacation spots..?

:-D

So my cousin and I go on a road trip every year. For the past couple of years, we have gone to Colorado and went snowboarding. This year, we are both living on the cheap cheap but still would like to do something nice. We are in Austin, TX.. What are some good (relatively inexpensive) ideas for a vacation?

The Columbia River Gorge; Oregon/Washington. Windsurfing capitol in the U.S., kite-surfing, winter sports, lots of locations to hike/camp, fishing is excellent & abundant, hunting permitted w/ license & tags, and breathtakingly beautiful. Clear clear air, lots of wineries to tour, scenic tours, etc. No state sales tax on food or non-food; the price you see is the price you pay. If you make it this way, check out Multnomah Falls. For salmon/steel-head fishing, Dechutes is where you want to be. Just about anywhere in the Columbia River you can catch monster Sturgeon. Not uncommon to catch a 6-8 foot Sturgeon w/ the right bait and 85lb braided line. We've caught 3-4 footers right off the boat dock in The Dalles, Oregon. Lots of bass & trout fishing too.
