What where the Minnesota Twins thinking?
The Twins have just confirmed that they have traded their backup catcher Jose Morales for a minor league pitcher from the Rockies, what do you think they were thinking? Last season they traded Wilson Ramos (extremely good prospect) to Washington for Matt Capps, i was behind that deal because we had Morales in hiding. After bringing up Morales he did well when Mauer was injured, and everyone knows Mauer isn't going to play catcher his whole career so why would they trade the future of their organization at catcher for some one year minor league pitcher?
@seabiscuit-Butera is an alright catcher but all Twins fans have seen and heard what Morales is capable of, and Butera is just not capable of the things Morales was, also not too many people believe that Mauer will be at the catching position for more then about 7 years, once his knees give out he is too valuable to play at DH and many think he will move to first with Morneau possibly moving to DH.

Wow....that's the non impact deal of the year. Morales for a single A level pitcher, a lefty.
You overrated Morales about 500%, he's a minor leaguer, not even a second string. Getting a lefty prospect might mean something later on.

I'm not a Twins fan, but I seen Butera play a few times and he's a solid MLB backup catcher and the Twins have the best catcher in baseball and won't need one another one for about a decade.

I personally would have kept Ramos, gotten rid of Morales. Mauer is a great catcher but it would be good for his bat to move him over to 3B, he's such a good athlete it wouldn't be a problem. Or put Morneau at DH in and move Mauer to 1B. I can't justify moving both of them.

Mauer may not catch forever, but he'll catch for 5-6 more years,at least. That's more than enough time to find a replacement.

Really? Everyone knows he's not going to be a catcher his whole career? This is the first I've hear of this. I doubt you are right.

you have joe mauer, and are a competitive team, he was expendable. what about your future pitching depth anyway? you guys don't have any blow away SPs, and pitching wins more ballgames in my opinion then anything else. they have years out of mauer yet so i don't think its a big issue.
i'm certain the twins brass know what they are doing, that's a first class organization and you guys are always competitive to prove it, i don't think you have much to worry about.

I was hoping you were going to say they sent Liriano to the Yanks. Wishful thinking!
