What is profit booking in share market?

Profit booking does it mean selling all quantity or selling few quantity. Lets say 100 shares buy price @350 so Rs.35,000.Now suppose share is at price 1000. So Profit booking means selling all 100 shares and get 65,000 profit or selling 65 shares so that principal amount of 35,000 remain there in form of shares.

'Profit Booking',' Booking a Profit, 'Book a profit' all simply mean to 'do the deal' to close it in profit. It harks back to the time that the deals were recorded in the brokers book/Ledger.

It also applies in losses 'Booking a Loss' 'Book a Loss' etc where a loss would have been recorded in the 'Book'....you juts hear that expression less because nobody likes to admit that they 'Booked' a loss!
