Is my buildings water turning my whites yellow?......?

.......My whites are turning yellow after only a few washes. Brand new, premium quality,(expensive anyway),t-shirts and socks. I've done the Oxy-Clean & even chlorine based dishwashing powder "boosts" and pre-soaks. They don't sit in a hamper forever either. Is there something else I can try besides using a laundromat?

Update:

@ Timmy - Yeh, that's sort of what I'm doing now. But the only white "T" I like are Meronas. There between 8 and 10 bucks a pop. Screw it. If you were here, I wouldn't have a shirt on anyway. ;- )

Maybe, or you could be using too much chlorine bleach too often. Ask a neighbor if they have a problem also.

Odd that you would have this happen just when I'm having weird problems with my water too. My dishwasher has started leaving a white patina on my dishes and I still use the exact same setting and Cascade Complete. It has to be a change in the city water supply.

Closer to your problem, at my previous house we were too close to the water tower and the chlorine was too strong. It bleached out and mottled colored t-shirts. I had to put a carbon block whole house filter at the water main where it came into the house. It was a real pain in the neck too. It had to be changed every month and I had to build a little house for it so the sun wouldn't affect it and in the winter I had to put a light bulb in there to keep the temperature above freezing!

But the carbon block did stop the mottling and my hair stopped falling out! Good luck, and I hope you find an easier solution.

    looooooooool.

Do u have your own machine or do u use the shared one in the building??? I would get my own, and also a water filter. Even if the water is not the cause for changing the color, I would still get one. It is always helpful. The one I have is sort of universal (although it's not very effective)
