Frame for child's art...PLEASE HELP...need to order tonight.?
My 3 year old did a painting for her granddad for Christmas. It is on a 9X12 stretched canvas (like it is already on the wood frame thing) but I would like a frame to accentuate it. What key words am I looking for for the type of frame I need? I am very uneducated when it comes to these things. Help! Thank you so much!

These frames are made for 9 X 12 canvas paintings pick one you like and order it. When you get the frame drop the canvas into the frame and if the canvas came with the wood or plastic wedges, fit then into the inside corners and tap them in as you do this it will wedge the canvas against the frame and hold it in place . if you did not get any wedges with the canvas just bend the canvas over the back of frame and staple it onto the back of the frame

If you have a store like Michaels Crafts or the big JoAnn stores, they have framing departments.
Just picking up a regular picture frame won't, as you probably already know, work for this project because the frame on which the canvas is stretched is too deep to fit into the shallow depth where the picture and glass are. BTW, with oil paintings, you don't want to have the glass in front of it.

thanks for encouraging your child to paint Wal-mart of all places has ready made frames in 9 x 12 size made of wood or metal a simple black metal frame about one inch high on all sides will do the trick since it is on canvas you can simply put the painting into from the back and use the little clips that come with it to hold it in place. Take the painting with you when you shop so you know it fits and happy holiday again thanks for showing your child the worth of her endeavors by framing it I am sure that Grampa will be thrilled with it.
