The drivers love the tires, and are talking about two tire stops, and no tire stops.. They have however expressed concern about the tighter racing the smooth surface will create..
My answer would be A..

A. New Surface
Reason being is that they have already had to do some patch work and grinding some areas to smooth it out. Im sure that got to be in the back of the drivers mind. Here is a article from Nascar.com that talks about it with Mark Martin:

I almost went with B because Goodyears track record with tire compounds is not exactly always been good in the past and also the tire they tested with is the one they are using during Speedweeks because Goodyear has already had the tires made before the test. The same compound that is used at Talladega. Here is the article from Nascar.com about that:

I'd say neither. The surface is nice and smooth and the tires appear to be holding up well, so all that leaves is just the increased possibility for a massive pileup. I would not be suprised if we see a replay of the Coke Zero 400 Big One from last season. The drivers have to get used to the increased speed now.

The new surface. It is not going to be a race where the best handling car wins but instead it will be a chess match all race and setting up for the final 15 laps. Track position and the right drafting car will help win the race

A) New Surface
Tires are easy to "feel", but a track you have to "read" and then memorize. Every track reads like an old vinyl L.P., and you need to learn were every dip and valley is in the track before you can become proficient on it. Each track is different, and each track "reads" differently. The tires will only perforrm in one way, but a track has constant changes due to temperature and other conditions. "The tires are the slave to the track"
