    Let x = the weight of the ball

    (10.5 + x/2 ) = x

    10.5 = x - x/2

    10.5 = x/2

    21 = x

    So, we're saying that 10.5 plus half of 21 (which is 10.5) is equal to 21. It is

    ANSWER

    The ball weighs 21 lbs

    Damon is correct but there's a quicker way to do it without the algebra.

    If if weighs <whatever> + 1/2 its own weight, then the <whatever> must logically also be half its weight.

    So 10.5 pounds must be half its weight so its weight is 21 pounds.

    You've already said the ball weighs 10.5 pounds, then I think you're asking to add half of that weight to it - 5.25 pounds. So 10.5 +5.25 = 15.75 pounds --------------------
