The money I have belongs to God. Yes I give to my church. How do you think they are supposed to pay the bills? It's an individual matter between each person and God.

All that I have is God's, I am just supposed to be a good steward of what He has provided me with. Have I felled to give, yes. I see no where in the New Testament teachings that titheing was done away with, in fact there is a parable about the widow titheing. Apostle Paul also took up a collection to help the less fortunate congregations on his journies. We are to give what we can from our heart, sometimes that means time, if I have no money to give.Maybe helping clean the church, or serving in some capacity once a week.Let the Holy Spirit speak to you, I am sure you will be blessed, and I'm not talking like some 'prosperity' preacher so he can afford a new Armani suit...............:)

The minister's sales might want to be paid, then there is value to run the church (electric powered bill, water, and so on). also if upkeep to the construction desire to be made. no longer particular how extra is dealt with. i do not walk a non secular course at contemporary, yet turning out to be up I attended my grandparents church each each now and then (Primitive Baptist). Their minister's/preachers did not get a sales (they'd standard jobs and preached because they were "called" to), and people voluntarily donated money for upkeep of the church (no plate develop into surpassed, no particular quantity of tithing develop into predicted). they did not see faith as a organization, yet to boot understood there have been some expenditures incurred in having an section to fulfill. also, of a visting pastor occurred to be in attendance on a given weekend, some might want to offer him money to help pay for his go back and forth expenditures...yet lower back it wasn't predicted or required, and continually executed after the provider, as they were shaking his hand (like slipping a maitre 'd a tip to get a table).

Back when I was a Christian, my pastor had the audacity to try to tell me that the reason why my son's bedroom burned at our house was because I needed to tithe. I was new to this church and had just moved away from my Catholic roots to check out this new "non-denominational" church with my husband.
As I shared my story about the fire in our house, he actually starting talking about giving 10% of our gross income as part of our duty as Christians who believe in Jesus. Like idiots, we went ahead and did what he said, and years later, we discovered that he had been using some of the "tithing" money for "the Lord" for his new secret girlfriend (he bought her gifts, they'd hide in the mountains and have picnics, etc. while his wife was pregnant with their 5th child). The girlfriend was married too, by the way.
The nerve of that jerk to try to use a tragedy to get us to give him money that we worked for. What a disgusting shame.

You are suppose to give as you were blessed so giving is way down in hard times.

If you like having heat in the winter and lights and water all year long in your church and if you feel it is right to help the needy. Then you should feel guilty not tithing.

the vatican has its own bank with billions in it.now why do i need to give money to the church when its HQ is worth billions?.anyway people, ive yet to read anything that says jesus went to Italy ever!.explain to me why the vatican is in Italy and not in Bethlehem or Nazareth or Jerusalem?.i tell you why!,the roman empire after Constantine who gave us the First Sunday Law,the Edict of Constantine made sure the Roman Empire continued to survive by adopting the popular christian belief at the time.have none of you read about ekklesia-church-assembly for special purpose, the 1st sunday law of Constantine, which has led to church- going, on sun-day,the pagan day of the sun?.its all Roman history people, not Jesus!.never mind, believe what you want,i dont care at this stage.bye...
Source(s): correct me if im wrong please, but was not Jesus a Jew?,and if he was ,then is not Saturday, the Sabbath to Jesus the Jew?,all that sunday nonsense is Roman Empire bull.well,Jesus was a Jew right!. - Anonymous1 decade ago
No... If your church asks you to tithe... then that is a good indication that you're not dealing with the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ...
