Does the rash of late season injuries make you rethink having a future 18 game NFL schedule?

I don't know if this year is typical or not but there seems to be a lot of injuries and the IR list for many teams seem to be growing daily. Maybe it's because many of the injured players are QB's and that makes the news.

To me, it seems many of the playoff contending teams are limping into critical late season games and adding 2 more games would make that happen more often and affect the quality of the NFL season. But that's just my opinion.. what do you think?

I didn't have to rethink it, I hated the idea of an 18-game season the minute I heard it. What's the NFL going to do when Matt Flynn and Curtis Painter have to start the Pro Bowl because everyone else is too banged up to play?

I as a fan want a 18 game schedule but know that the consequences are huge. There is a major injury problem this year on the Packers.5 starters were on the IR early in the year,10 players all together. So many were playing hurt and their game was not up to NFL standards. We could get the extra games we strive for but the quality of play will be getting closer to the UFL/CFL.

money. organic and straightforward. The better video games you play, the better money to be made. i imagine it really is a foul theory all round. if you're a fan of football, then an 18 sport agenda is tremendous. the project with playing better video games is better possibilities for injuries and the ability for cutting short careers. As issues stand, the overall NFL occupation is 3 seasons. in case you play better video games a season, that huge type drops to round 2.5 seasons. Going lower back to the money attitude, i do not see how the NFL can make better funds going to an 18 sport agenda. What better sales you generate playing 18, will be lost and probably then some via having to improve rosters to address ability injuries. Plus you've higher clinical value to address those injuries. Plus you may want to alongside the season might want to signal some different person to change higher gamers going on injured reserve. i imagine the NFL might want to be better efficient served leaving the season length because it really is.

It's been happening forever. On the flip side, you also have teams that had bad luck early and are now getting their players back on the field. The Chargers, for example, have had injured top receivers since week 1 along with running backs and defense being injured since the first few weeks. Then there's Gates who missed the last 2 games. If only the season were 10 games long he wouldn't have been hurt.

These are professional athletes and sometimes they get hurt. More importantly, if a team depends that much on one or two players to be a top team then maybe they are fooling themselves.

I would be happy with a 12 game schedule. Injuries are a small part of that, but the bigger part of that is I like the games to mean something. The crappy Browns slaughtered the 11-2 Patriots. Does that game have any bearing on the season? No. So why did I bother watching that game?

I love football. I go into withdraws every February. As a greedy football fan, I want 18 games, increase the roster from 53 to 60 players and have 2 bye weeks.

Source(s): EDIT: If it wasn't for a questionable tackle by Rodney Harrison on Trent Green, tearing his ACL, during a 1998 Charger-Ram preseason game, Kurt Warner would have never won the Superbowl for the Rams.
