Got any fishing goals for the new year?

Seems like some of the questions in this weekend's Big Kahuna are reflective, philosophical, so, while we're in a pensive mood, do you have any fishing goals or aspirations for 2011? Some special species you'd like to catch? Or a destination you'd like to fish? Fish more? Fish less but catch more? Learn something new?

Definitely fish more. Or at least try to. With school coming up fast, it's really gonna cut into my fishing time. There's a couple new destinations I'm hoping to fish next spring. I'm hoping to fish a nice golf course pond after some permission and hopefully have the opportunity to float tube backyard lake. And as far as something new, I'm hoping to take up fly fishing for bass in the spring and summer... use some heavy popping frogs and an 8 weight fly rod.

I suppose it would help with the fishing somewhat, I'm hoping to quit smoking.

My fishing goals will remain exactly the same as this year's.

    1) Land a 35+ pound yellowtail on flies. I thought this shouldn't be overly difficult to accomplish but....

    2) Land a carp that's at least 40 pounds regardless of the specie. I focused on grass carp this year because they are more sizable. So far, still nothing over 40 pounds yet. I think I'll put common carp back on the list next year.

I think I'll include my wish list too.

    1) Land a bluegill that's 3 pounds or bigger. I didn't get to see that many 2 pounders though... LOL

    2) Land a redear that's 3 pounds or bigger. I didn't get to see that many 2lb+ redears around my area too. LOL

    3) Fish on a daily/nightly basis again. I don't think this will happen any time soon though... LOL

    Y/A related wish list:

    1) See more quality questions/answer here like it used to be.

    2) See fewer people here with almost 0 unresolved tiebreaker questions.

    3) Have fewer questions and answers that were deleted mysteriously. (Well, I knew they were reported. I just don't understand why. That "violation against community guide lines" always sounded awfully vague.... LOL

No real goals... just hopes/aspirations of having a great fishing year. The last few years our salmon fishing has been poor and I am just hoping this changes and hope that 2011 is the year it changes... so I can have tons of fun catching salmon and having many to throw in the freezer to eat in the winter.

Oh jeeze, it'll be nice just to get out a little more often in the coming year. Maybe get little Boo into a mess of bluegill or sailor's choice with a handline. Get the 'yak out a few times. Nothing big except the fish I hope to catch. ; )

be nice to get at least one fish that weighs over 10 lbs, from freshwater.

will be taking a trip to eagle lake and catching me some of the big and tasty eagle trout they have there.

fish more, while catching more fish.

always interested in discovering new baits or techniques that make it as easy as shooting fish in a barrell. especially in winter time, but what i know and do already does work.....

Hope to get back to Sitka, Alaska, summer of 2011, and catch a record King.

Then on to Homer, Alaska, in autumn, for a barn-door halibut.

Take photos of wildlife--land and sea.

In-between times, fish Hawaiian waters for skipjacks, crevally, and barracudas.

I would like to get a Carp over 30-inches, as I've failed to do the last few fishing seasons. I'd also like to get into some larger Catfish in some rivers locally. I also want a few bass over 20-inches. DEFINITELY fishing more. Didn't get out this year as much as I'd like to.

Yeah, this year I don't think I will fish exclusively for bass as I do every year. I'm going to step back in time, and do a little trot lining for catfish, try to gig a few alligator gar, and fish for a few crappie this year. It was fun years ago, I think it would still be fun.
