How do I get around the problem of having to move HD lead from Sky box to Blu ray DVD player?
I have a Samsung 40" from about 3/4 years ago and it only has 1 HD lead socket. So if I want to watch a DVD I have to unplug HD lead from back of Sky box and put into Bluray player which is a bit of a mare. I went into TV shop they said HD splitter plugs are useless and suggested something but I forgot what it was, an amp or tuner or something.

A surround receiver can do it.
On a budget, you can get an HDMI selector box.

interestingly the geezer in the television save became attempting slightly up-merchandising!! sturdy high quality HDMI splitters or switches do artwork and that they artwork nicely, too. the television guy became attempting to sell you a house cinema device instead, which expenses thousands of pounds. An HDMI splitter might fee you some tenner or so... you will locate what I mean by "up-merchandising"!
