How to get past the grouchy baby time?

I take care of my 7mo. grand baby while her parents work. She is such a joy and a very happy baby all day long. But like clockwork come 6:30pm She gets tired and all she wants to do is fuss and cry she wont take her bottle. It does not matter what we do with her she cries. until she finally gives up and goes to sleep around 8pm.

What can we do to stop this? It makes it impossible to get anything done. plus I hate seeing her this way. My children never did this. We have tease around now saying that in a few min she will turn into the devil baby lol. She does it with everyone not just me. Her parents when they are home.

I don't know if I should just put her down and let her cry it out or love on her or what?

Most babies have a "fussy time" which is usually later in the evenings. It's normal. My daughter's fussy time is about the same as your grand daughters. I don't know if there is much you can do except continuing to console her and build her feelings of security with you that you will be there for her.

Hopefully they will grow out of it! Until then, we must be patient!

Try to put her down for a nap around 4:00, just let her sleep for about 30-40 min, this will make her feel better and she wont be fussy

Mine do that too, so I give them baths at 7pm. The LOVE baths, and the warm washcloth on the belly, kicking in the water, and then I wring the washcloth out about a foot above their belly and they wiggle and giggle watching the water trickle. It doesn't matter how mad they are, they shut up immediately in the bath. Give it a try. If she likes it, let her play until she tires herself out and then swaddle her in a nice warm towel. Also, it took my daughter a few baths to go from hating it to loving it, so try it over a few days. You could also massage some lotion onto her afterward if she enjoys that.
