I own a 2004 Toyota RAV4 base model with 94,000 miles on it, third set of tires, third battery, never broke down. Mobil1 from the very first oil change.

When shopping for a used car depending on your budget look at dealer's pre-owned inventory, and stay within 5 years old. Ask for CARFAX reports, maintenance records, etc. If you buy anything older than 5 years ask if they'll allow you to have a pre-purchase inspection done by a mechanic of your choice, particularly if you are buying from an individual or independent used car dealer.

Im driving an 89 Volkswagen Golf.

Its still kicking at over 250 thousand miles.

I bought the car at around 180 thousand miles, and other than basic maintenance (plugs wires filters fluids etc) the only real major thing that has happened to it (other than an *** denting my door real good) was I burnt the clutch but that was my fault.Learning stick on a tired clutch...

Im real happy with it, and it looks like they still use the 1.8l in newer volkswagens.

Its been heck of a work car honestly.

Check the inside for water marks.

Check the body for any type of major body work.

Cracked belts, weak hoses, black or white coating in the tail pipe.

Test drive. Any funny sounds? Pulling or shimmy in the steering?

Any problem braking or accelerating? Are the door jams the same color as the body?

well, i drive an oldsmobile alero. its a nice little car, it gets good traction, good fuel mileage.. it just depends on how much you have to spend, they can go from 3500 to 4200. i bout mine for 1500 but it was also wrecked... being 16 that doesn't bother me, because ill prolly wreck it again... they really are good little cars... they have alot of room, the front could be a little cramped if your taller, or overweight. (not trying to be rude...) i recommend it because they are great cars...

    Hope to be of help
