Books for Mom for Christmas?

My current favorite writer is Alexander McCall Smith. He has several series out.

Probably the most popular and well known is the Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency. It is set in Botswana and centers around Precious Romastwe, the first female detective in Bostwana.

I also enjoy the 44 Scotland Street series, which is difficult to explain, but it's stories center around the tenants of #44 Scotland Street an apartment building in Edinburgh, Scotland.

If she likes light humor she will like them both, especially like 44 Scotland Street

She might also like the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells. It's along the lines of The Help.

She also might like Lake Wobegon Days by Garrison Keelor

Get her a gift card plus a book mark then get her a snack and tape the gift card and book mark to the snack and wrap it. She can read, have her marker and snack and if she drinks coffee or soda add that, with a mug or cup. Depends how much you want to spend. Put it all in one box and she will not guess what it is.
