Are you talking about the operating system, Windows 7 or Microsoft Office 2010?
Windows 7 is the real deal, its not a starter version preinstalled but the complete version.
Microsoft Office 2010 on the other hand is a starter version. This is NOT a trial version, but it comes with Word and Excel only. This comes preloaded on your computer and won't expire like a trial.
If you require Powerpoint, Outlook, Access etc, which are other programs of Microsoft Office, you'd have to buy the full version for 100 plus dollars.
Hope this helps.
