Thinking about getting a Windows 7?

what is the best brand name to get.

i need it to be around $300 to $400. i don't really need one with a Monitor, but it could help, but it isn't necessary. i saw the rating on a Emachines for $298, not certain if i should go with it or not. i've had an Emachines XP before. i had it for years. but needed to upgrade to a new computer for obvious reasons. so i was wondering what would be the best computer to get.

also does Windows 7 come with a System Restore like Windows Vista does so that i don't need a System Recovery disk so my information does get erased.

i'm looking to get a Desktop. just so u didn't think i was talking about a Laptop or anything else.

what brand name computer do u recommend. and can u give me a link to where i can buy it online. a trusted site.

Update:

can anyone give me direct links to where i can buy some at around 300 to 400 dollars. i don't have to have the monitor. and i need it to be the best Brand Name computers.

Emachines is a "let's see hoe bad a computer we can get away with selling" computer. So is Dell Inspiron. They're cheaply made with cheap parts. (RAM is RAM, speed is speed, but the refresh speed can be a lot slower - that saves money and makes your computer slow. WD drives. Video card fans that cost a few cents. Sheet metal that can't support its own weight. That sort of corner-cutting.)

I've been sticking with Acer, Gateway and ASUS for the past few years for value. (Although ASUS makes terrible cases, but if you can live with that, they make decent computers.)

System Restore isn't System Recovery or reinstalling Windows - all 3 are separate things.

Windows 7 comes with System Restore - unfortunately. Unless you're comfortable in the registry (and then you should just export a reg file when you need one), you shouldn't be playing with System Restore. That's one of the first things I do with a new computer - turn off System Restore.

Different models of computer come with different Windows restoration methods - the most common one is a partition on the hard drive. You can download a generic restoration (repair) disk image, though http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windows-7-system-rep...

Reinstalling Windows? Almost no manufacturers ship installation disks any longer. But most of them will sell you one - OEM, but with all the junk that was on the computer when you got it - for a few dollars.

Windows 7 is way better than XP... But wait! You need a perfect system for it otherwise it's a waste of money.... get a INTEL CORE i3 540 3.06Ghz system with 2 GB of minimum RAM...

7 could have maximum of Vista's features (and shortcomings) yet run on hardware that would no longer extremely run Vista - like sluggish CPUs and 1GB of RAM. attempt the launch candidate (twin boot it, so which you do no longer lose your Vista installation, data, records, courses, etc.) and notice in case you like it extra constructive. Vista working in a working laptop or pc designed for Vista is exceptionally good, however. (I run courses, no longer the uncooked OS, and that i do no longer word lots distinction between a given application working in XP and in Vista - on suitable desktops. If I have been writing kernel hooks, i could word transformations.)
