Help with brand new Coby laptop....?

Make sure your first boot device is your hard drive. Restart and immediately start tapping F2. This function is somewhat system specific so yours may be another combination. Just read the directions on your screen to get in BIOS.

Once there, make sure your first boot device is your hard drive. If its not select your hard drive as the first boot device and that should fix your problem. If it is already selected you may have a bigger problem that needs to be fixed. If you dont have any files you need you can reiinstall windows from the recovery partition. Restart your computer and immediately start tapping F11 or F12. Again this is system specific. If you reinstall Windows from the recovery partition this will erase/delete/format your hard drive and all files will be erased.

Another option, if you have your Windows disk and an external cd drive would be to boot from the Windows disk and choose to enter the recovery/repair console.

I should add that if you do have files that you need you can downlaod Ubuntu from anotehr computer for free and boot from the Ubuntu disc which will allow you to access your files before reinstalling Windows. You will need to boot from the disc so you will need an external cd drive.

Once Ubuntu loads choose to use it without making any changes to your system. It can take several minutes to load. From there you can copy all your files/folder to an external device and proceed to fix your computer. If something goes wrong with the fix, or you have to reformat, you have all your files/folders.
