arrested for mischief?

my little brother(younger but over 18) was arrested for mischief, and was held at the police station for close to 9 hours. He was let go without a court date. Does this mean he was convicted?

You don't state what type of "mischief" but in my own jurisdiction "Criminal Mischief" is an offense. Depending upon the monetary value involved in the mischief determines whether the offense is a misdemeanor or a felony.

If a felony, an arrest not be required immediately but forthcoming once the next Grand Jury hears and true bills the case!

You cant arrest someone for 'mischeif', that is not a criminal offence. May be your bro is not telling you the really reason he was arrested?

should have been locked up until court date. No one is arrested for anything without a court date. Think about it.
