What constitutes a "true" Christian?

For example, if the person curses, yells at someone or is mean or rude and they claim they are a true Christian, are they? I feel they are more of a Christian hypocrit not that I'm judging or anything. Just trying to understand why someone would do this and claim to be a "true" Christian.

Just because a person is a "true Christian," that does not exclude him from sinning. Due to the sin of Adam and Eve we are born with a human nature deprived of original holiness and justice. Even after Baptism, certain temporal consequences of sin remain in the baptised, such as suffering, illness, death, and such frailties inherent in life as weakness of character and so on, as well as an inclination to sin.(Concupiscence)

Oh, and by the way, a true Christian is someone who has been anointed through the gift of the Holy Spirit in Baptism, therefore, a follower of Christ and a member of the Church (Body of Christ) established by Christ.

There is no way to determine a 'true' Christian or not neighbor, that is the sole responsibility of God. One has to assume that all who claim to be Christian are indeed Christian.

That being said, there are new Christians, and mature Christians, and every degree in between. This explains the differences that you observe.

    Thanks for asking neighbor.

This is life eternal: that you believe in the one true God, and the one whom He sent; Jesus Christ.

Repentance toward the Father, faith in Christ Jesus.

He died for our sins according to the scriptures.

    He was buried.

He rose again on the third day according to the scriptures.

The gospel. Full and complete. Front and center.

We are all becoming complete, and we are not there yet. A Christian is one who follows Jesus and live His way of life. Sometimes, we make mistakes, and our humanity gets in the way.

a simple definition of a true chrisitan is one who believes in Jesus as the Christ and saviour /redeemer of the world.

a more refined definition of believer involves STUDY of scriptures, forsaking sin, denying oneself of al ungodliness and obtaining the PROMISE of the Holy Ghost. even the promise of Jesus himself.

a true disciple is one who sells all he has,

who denies himself of all ungodliness

who takes up His cross, in the name of jesus, and preaches and teaches the gospel.

Most christians are of the simple definition.

most christians DO NOT fulfillf the definition of a disciple.

    EVERYONE SINS.

But to me, a true Christian is someone who believes and follows the Word of God (The Bible).

The UK, sadly, is a Christian country - the queen, as head of state, is also the head of the CofE, therefore we are (technically) a theocracy. Ironically, the USA, which was founded on specifically secular principles, does seem to be dangerously close to being in the stranglehold of the Christian lobby.
