The new iPods hav cameras and u can call if u hav the iPod headphones with mic and with the textfree app which is free to download and everything but u do hav to pay if u want more minutes or not and it's pretty cheap

I bought my daughter an ipod touch (without a camera) about 6 months ago.(maybe that is the one you bought) I just bought the newest one (with only one camera this month) You can text from both versions, but can't call. (you can't take pictures with the older one) Anyway( maybe you mean the i phone?) You can make calls from it.

You can most definitley call! I use textfree with voice! It's like a wifi cell phone! Free and great!!

The 4th generation comes with 2 cameras, one on your side, and one on the other side.

Also, you can sort of "call".

You can use Skype to call people, OR, if you have the 4th generation, you can use Facetime, which allows you to video + voice chat other people with facetime for free.
