HTC Desire - Backing up SMS (text messages)?
My HTC Desire is overheating and switching off, so I am having to send it off for repair. HTC told me it is likely I will be offered a replacement handset. I have sensitive SMS (text messages) on my phone which I do not want to lose. Does anyone know if I can back up this data to my PC, and then upload it to my new handset?

Hi.Go to the market and search for SMS backup. You can use any of those apps to back up your messages. Text messages can be saved to your memory card or even to your gmail account.

SMS backup & restore by Ritesh Sahu I heard is pretty good. I used to use one called "SMS to text" but I can't seem to find it on the android market. But what SMS backup and Restore does it saves your texts as an XML file on your phone, so when you connect your phone to your computer, you just open the XML file with a program that reads that format. SMS to Text saved it as a .txt document. Most phones don't automatically allow you to backup texts, you have to get an application on your phone to save them in another format, then later put them on your computer.
