Do animals become extinct or have they just evolved into something else?

Update:

Since evolution is just a theory, then I believe animals become extinct by the hand of mankind.

God knows what He is doing!

    Extinct.

    That's why we have save the whales and other such groups.

    If they became something else, they wouldn't need saving.

    They become extinct due to the imbalances that have been

    imposed on the earth mostly by man, not only through

    greed, although that is a large part, but a lot through

    wanting the easy way, the quick way. Not much improvement

    over 'burn and slash' methods in many things. Animals

    then have no home, become vulnerable to predators,

    and become extinct. Animals often now are committing

    mass suicides also.

    Animals become extinct when the purpose for which they were designed by God, no longer exists. Its only man, who can't see beyond the end of his nose, who tries to "save" creatures who no longer have a reason for being. If it had been up to man, we'd still have T-Rex's wandering around Miami and Brontosaureses feeding in the Jersey meadowlands.

    You haven't done your homework, which is to educate yourself. This isn't uncommon for theists, who've been taught that "God did it" is a reasonable explanation for just about everything.

    There are at least eleven areas of study and empirical data supporting the Theory of Evolution. They are:

    * Paleontology (fossils)

    * Distribution of Animals and Plants

    * Comparative Anatomy

    * Embryology

    * Vestigial Organs

    * Genetics

    * Natural Selection

    * Sexual Selection

    * Molecular Biology

    * Bad Design

    * Lab Experiments

    The Theory of Evolution is the basic unifying concept of biology. The CEO of The American Association for the Advancement of Science, Alan Leshner, wrote, “Although scientists may debate details of the mechanisms of evolution, there is no argument among scientists as to whether evolution is taking place.” The National Academy of Sciences, the most prestigious scientific organization in the United States, has declared evolution “one of the strongest and most useful scientific theories we have,” and notes that evolution is supported by an overwhelming scientific consensus. The Theory of Evolution has as much validity as the theory of gravity, atomic theory, or the germ theory of disease.
