were there Israelite soldiers fighting along side the Persians at Thermopilae?

It was written that he had soldiers from every province in his empire, including anatolian Greeks. Just curious

Update:

It's interesting because I read that Cyrus the great was highly revered by the Israelites. After all, he had freed them from the slavery of Babylon...or so I read....God, I love history!

There is no mention of any Jewish or Israelite contingent in the Persian army in known lists by writers of the time,so no.

    Possibly.

R.D.Barnett of the British Museum claimed to have recognised such contingents in the Assyrian army, so why not? At the same time, the jews were at just about the lowest point in their history during the Persian Empire.

But you are right that the deported Jews recognised Cyrus as a saviour and the Jews thereafter kept in with the Persians.

I thought I had read somewhere that the Israelites were exempted from service in the Medio-Persian army in exchange for higher taxes. That could be completely wrong, though, because I can't remember where I read it.
