New Year's Eve cupcake decorating ideas....?
My MIL has once again put me on cupcake duty. They have a New Year's Eve party yearly, and this year she wants me to make the cupcakes. So, do you have any ideas on how i can decorate them? The only things i can think of it to put star sprinkles on them.
Any ideas would be appreciated...just nothing to hard...lol i want something simple and not too time consuming.
Thanks:)

How about making Frosty the Cupcake? These are cute and "wintery">>>

Otherwise make cupcakes that look like clocks for Father Time. Just don't do sprinkles...put a little effort into it...after all, it's the only thing you have to bring, right? So show off your talent :).

well i was thinking snowflakes or stars i can tell you an easy trick. Get a cut out of whatever shape you like.( such as a cookie cutter but a cardboard template would work as well. Sprinkle colored sugar over the cut out. It's pretty easy to decorate with a piping tip in the corner of a plastic bag if you want to get more fancy. You could also crush several different types of candies and cookies and dip frosted cup cakes in them.

I would get the large grain sugar (I think its just called decoratin sugar) in different fun colors. Or just white, and then it will just look sparkly. Its like sprinkles, but more sophisticated :) And you can dye your frostings to match, or just coordinate.
I also found these pretty wrappings at my grocery store that have fun swirly designs on them, that don't bleed when they are baked. The inside of the wrap is tinfoil. Idk if you've used them, but I did the other day and the cupcakes came out fine.
And one other suggestion is to make two different colored frostings and use a toothpick to make designs

well when I think of new years colors I think of pink silver & black.Maybe get the foiled cupcake liners (silver) with neon pink icing with black sugar crystals. Get a 3 layered cupcake stand &decorate with stars with matching colors

Yesterday on the Oprah show there was a cupcake company from Georgetown in Washington D.C. that demonstrated their New Years Eve strawberry champagne cupcakes. They were spectacular. Check them out here:

Make Strawberry cupcakes with champagne in them and top with frosting and chocolate covered strawberry... that's what I'm going to do, anyway.
