How come a black person can call another black person "******" and its not racist?

The quick answer is that some people feel that when they are being insulted, abused, disrespected by other groups of people, then "taking back" the insult by using the word amongst yourselves can help. Using the word is a way of being defiant, (so you think I am nothing but a "******" ? Okay, then I AM a "******" and I'm proud of it). It also shows that you are not afraid of the word, that you are not going to fall over dead because the word exists. Other people feel that using the "N" takes the sting out of it and makes it not as hard to deal with when other groups yell it at you. And still other people feel that if the word insults your group, then it should never be used anymore, by anyone.

So, if a white person uses the "N" word, they don't get it. White people are not struggling to cope with the pain and suffering that black people feel when they are called a "******" by non-black people.

Some gay people call themselves "queers" for the same reasons. And straight people shouldn't call them "queers" because straight people are not feeling the pain and fear that gay people feel when they get called "queer" by straight people. And some gay people never want to hear the word "queer" again. And some gay people feel that using the word amongst themselves will help to take the sting out of it, make it less of an emotional punch in the stomach when someone calls them queer.

And your example of some white people referring to themselves as "white trash" is one thing, but if non-white people call us "white trash" it's a whole other thing. Being called white trash hurts. Calling each other "white trash" is a way to joke about it, make it not so painful, to try to heal from it etc.

I think white or black, there are going to be good people and bad people in both races that are going to use racial slurs.It is usually when white to white or black to black are unhappy and having a fight that they use this trashy language. I don't think people stop and think when they are arguing with someone. I think both are really dumb things to do and people should take the time to count to 10 then speak. That or if you have nothing nice, say nothing at all.

I think that the person who uses it seems trashy and uneducated. It's a bad term to use regardless of your skin color. I have never caled someone that term, and I half Black.

Because it doesn't hurt when a black person says such thing to someone with the same same skin color and same goes for white people.
