Is anyone else tired of people thinking the only type of rock around is metal?

Question

I'm not saying metal or hard rock or anything is bad. I mean, it's not my cup of tea. It's just so many people think that the only kind of rock around is that type. But there's so much more! I love old rock. '50s, '60s, '70s. You know, like Chuck Berry, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Stones, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Led Zeppelin, The Animals, Roy Orbison...Artists like that. Maybe it's just me, but it  seems like a lot of people pay no mind to them. I don't know. 

I want your opinion, even if you're telling me that I'm completely wrong. Thanks. :)

Absolutely.  What is worse, that filters down to other genres of music.  For instance, without the "metal=rock" mentality a lot of people who are singing rock would be called "rock."  As it is, they're called "country."

We really need to revisit the fact that "soft rock" (e.g., James Taylor) AND hard rock (e.g., Led Zepplein) were both rock and roll 30-40 years ago.  Neither owned the copyright then, and no one style does now.

I am not sure. The only people who think of rock this way I know are very young and have time to find out on their own there is more to it then hard rock.

as quickly as I first started analyzing that, i presumed i replace into analyzing a G N' R rant. yet you do have some stable factors. some human beings won't even supply chinese language Democracy of venture because of fact they are able to't see previous the undeniable fact that Axl Rose is the only gunner left after 15 years. that's what annoys me. do no longer knock it till you have tried it. that's what I say. Axl's voice is what makes G N' R. as long as he's there, that's nevertheless G N' R.

Yeah, I like rock and alternative rock. My favorite Alt Rock, has to be My Chemical Romance, but I do agree with you. There are many different kinds of rock, obviously those who say rock is metal dont know much about music.

it become outdated, its too mushy-gushy-huggy-lovey for this generation so its lost its place, id call that classic rock but most has been squeesed out over time
