When should I pump my milk?

I have to return to work in a few weeks so I need to start pumping my milk to store & freeze for when I am away from my baby. How should I go about this? Should I pump after she feeds? Before? Is there a certain way to go about this that will up my production so I can feed her AND still pump enough to store? Thanks for any answers!

This is what I did with my last baby(I worked)

Pump upon waking usually got 15 or so oz

then had the babysitter feed her on a schedule (even hours worked best for me)

I would pump at work every even hour so I stayed on the same schedule with her.

I never used those freezer bags as I don't believe they are cost effective (only to freeze extra)

I bought those cheapo 8oz evenflo bottles with the sealing disks

I would just swap the babysitter the empty bottles she used during the day with my full bottles at night when I picked her up. (that way I wouln't forget milk if I were running late in the morning)

With the bottles she was able to better distribute the fat through the milk when she shook the bottle versus the bags.

Also, you can pump directly into those bottles which saved time.

I didn't like those bottles to feed her with so I left an avent bottle with her.

I also made up a plastic storage bin that stayed at the babysitters house, that way I wouldn't have to pack a diaper bag everyday. I put a couple changes of clothes in it. A bottle to stay at her house. A pack of diapers, wipes, extra receiving blankets, extra pacifier, baby wash in case of the need for a hose down. She would just let me know when she needed more diapers, wipes etc....

Hope this helps. Worked great for us.

Ive continuously finished that with my milk. I cant often get an entire bottle in one shot so I shop including to a minimum of one. Now i think of the appropriate way 2 try this's to chill out the hot stuff earlier including it to the already cool milk. besides the shown fact that to be honest I often pump mind-blowing into the comparable bottle b/c I actual have the avent equipment. by no skill a situation yet. My infant is 15 weeks. i ought to only pump a million/2 oz..at first yet now i'm getting each and every so often 4oz so no concerns...it gets extra handy!
