The following is how Heaven is described in the Bible… Do you really want to spend eternity here?

Revelation 4

1 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” 2 At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. 4 Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits[a] of God. 6 Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.

In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:

“‘Holy, holy, holy

is the Lord God Almighty,’

who was, and is, and is to come.”

9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,

to receive glory and honor and power,

for you created all things,

and by your will they were created

and have their being.”

This is exactly why I'm atheist. How can you believe this?

Maybe the writer of that biblical passage didn't have words to describe the technology or whatever else he was seeing and so described thrones and hybrid animals as being the closest things he knew about to describe what he saw.

Maybe he was tripping on something (that would explain the colours and hallucinatory aspects of his experience).

Maybe, like a lot of zealots, he's either mad as a cut snake or an attention-seeker who does so by telling the tallest tales he can dream up to anyone gullible enough to listen to him.

Do I, personally , think it sounds like very much of a good time to spend an afterlife in? Well, frankly, nnooooooooooooo.....unless all the other options are even worse (which, of course, those who wish us to believe as they do, certainly threaten us that they will be).

It may be one of those things you'd have to get to experience first-hand to appreciate, or learn to appreciate or have to take the rest of eternity to learn to appreciate.....I'm not into being only one of a multitude of groupies for some megalomaniac, albeit even an omnipotent one.....I'm also someone who would rather lose this life than capitulate to a bully; so I'm probably one of the ones who is likely to turn down "heaven" if it is only a crappy alternative to other crappiness because at least the other crappiness admits it's crappy instead of trying to tell you that it is wonderful (in any other sense than how much I'm being amazingly altruistic) for me to pander and worship anyone/anything no matter how capable it is of pushing me around just because it doesn't like my preferences and will resort to torture to manipulate me to be otherwise than I am.

That is only a snapshot of a certain scene that John was given access to in the future. Heaven is going to be much more than that. We will also, as the people of God, be ruling and reigning with Him for all of time.

I'm studying Revelation...so I know all this is true.

Sure do. Except you have it all wrong. Heaven isn't the final destination. Creation will be set right, merged with God's kingdom, and we will receive resurrected bodies.

Take a bit of time and familiarize yourself with the Bible before criticizing it.

Heaven is not in the Heavens believe it or not. Heaven is when Christ returns to Earth and rules earth. The non believers go to hell which is in the caverns in the middle of the earth. The Godly remain in a cleansed and glorified earth.

If heaven was nothing but doing push ups and eating dirt, as long as I was in the presence of OUR LORD I would make reservations.

    Of course!

Didn't you know that God is an irascible Oriental despot, who needs to be told how wonderful he is all the time?

That isn't Heaven, just the judgment seat.
