Burnt plastic on eye of stove?
I had just turned the burner off and it was still very hot when i was adding my spinach to my dish on the other side of the stove. Well the plastic bag touched the eye of the stove and melted all over it. I didnt know what to do so i let it cool and it is still sitting in there. Any ideas of how to get it off? Has anyone ever done this?
Yes it is coil. Its melted on the coil.
Yes, I definitely did not want to burn it off because of toxic fumes! Thats why I left it alone.

i use easy off on everything....... just wait till it cools, spray easy off on it, and put it either in the oven (to seal off the fumes) or somewhere airtight and let it soak on for a few hours.... should peel right off.... i got a plastic bag melted on my stainless coffee pot.... man was i pissed!! this is how i got it off!!!

depending on quantity allow it to burn off with exhaust fan running but if necessary use a solvent but watch that it is not flammable . Generally a kitchen cleanser will allow it to be scoured off. If element is removable can be done in sink and allowed to completely dry before re installing.

Yes I have. If you let it cool completely I mean cold it will peel right off You may need to take the coil off to get a good handle on it. Besides after you peel it off you will want to clean the coil with like 409 of spray on oven cleaner or just wipe it etc. But make sure it is cold, wait a couple hours. You could stick the coil in the frig to get it cold faster. I had done that on my skillets to! Same thing it will peel off when cold. If you mess with it before it is cold and sets it will really make a mess just leave it alone for now. DO NOT TRY TO BURN IT OFF FOR GOODNESS SAKES! Good luck HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Is it a coil stove or flat-surface??? If it's coil, take the coil out and replace the tin dish that's below it. For flat-surface, scrub really hard with a solvent of some sort.
