PT cruiser, chrysler?

My PT cruiser needs a RS (passenger side) stabilizer arm.

Does anyone know what i mean? have you replaced this part before?

THe bolt is missing..... and my mechanic says its not too serious.... even though the stabilizer arm is just hanging there..... Obviously it needs replacing or fixing. Is it just as simple to replace the bolt ? or should i replace the entire ARM ?

thanks

I assume you speak of the stabilizer bar that runs side to side. This is an important part of your suspension and you can run without it but the suspension geometry is compromised.

If the stabilizer has not been damaged the replacement of the missing component should correct the problem. I personally would replace the links/brackets on both sides to equalize the suspension, worn bushings on one side and new ones on the other may cause erratic handling.

Time to not only get a second of third opinion but have the whole front end end checked bec it's highly unusual for those bolts to just come out and really no mechanic should be telling you to drive it like that. Some mechanics will perform a basic front end check for free especially if offering a free estimate service but be sure to have them show and explain the problems such as worn bushings etc.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way I'd want to change that old control arm and also be sure the rest of the front end is solid , then have a full 4 wheel alignment done.

    Happy Holidays to all.
